Day 1: Arrival in Berhampur – Transfer to Gopalpur – Evening on the Beach

Arrive in Berhampur (Brahmapur) and meet our tour representative at the railway station. Transfer to Gopalpur-on-Sea, a short 16 km and around 30 to 40 minutes by road. Check in at your beachfront hotel or the OTDC Panthanivas. Gopalpur is an old colonial-era port town turned quiet beach resort, and the late afternoon is its gentlest hour — settle in and walk the golden sand as the Bay of Bengal light softens, ending at the historic lighthouse for a panoramic view over town and sea. Overnight stay in Gopalpur.

Day 2: Gopalpur – Beach, Lighthouse and Optional Rushikulya Turtle Coast

A slow beach morning — sunrise over the bay is Gopalpur’s signature, and the calm shallows and near-empty sand suit walking and swimming far more than Odisha’s muddier northern beaches. Visit the lighthouse and the old port relics that give the town its character. In winter’s turtle season, an optional early excursion runs to the Rushikulya river mouth, roughly 45 km north, one of the world’s major olive ridley mass-nesting beaches — noting that access during peak nesting is managed and restricted, and sightings depend entirely on the arribada, which cannot be timed to a calendar. Otherwise, the day stays leisurely, with fresh seafood at a beachside restaurant and shopping for Ganjam handloom and handicraft back in Berhampur. Overnight stay in Gopalpur.

Day 3: Gopalpur – Transfer to Rambha – Chilika Island Cruise

After breakfast, check out and transfer to Rambha at the southern end of Chilika Lake, roughly 40 to 45 km and around an hour by road. Check in at the OTDC Panthanivas or a lakeside resort. In the afternoon, set out by boat across the calm southern lagoon to the island cluster — Breakfast Island (Barkuda) with its colonial ruins, Honeymoon Island, the birds’ islet, and a stop at a lake viewpoint or the mid-lake lighthouse. Rambha is the quietest and most scenic of Chilika’s hubs, ringed by low hills, and the lake sunset backed by the Eastern Ghats is its best moment. Overnight stay in Rambha.

Day 4: Rambha – Berhampur Departure

A slow morning by the lake — a final look at the islands or the Rambha viewpoint — before breakfast. Check out and transfer back to Berhampur, around 45 km and roughly an hour by road, in time for your onward train. Overnight journey onward.
