Day 1: Arrival in Haldwani / Kathgodam – Transfer to Lansdowne

Arrive in Haldwani or Kathgodam and meet our tour representative at the railway station or bus stand. Transfer to Lansdowne, a Garhwal Rifles cantonment town at roughly 1,700 m, laid out in 1887 and largely unchanged in character since. The drive covers roughly 250 to 280 km and takes 6.5 to 8 hours via Rudrapur, Kashipur, Najibabad and Kotdwar, with the climb from Kotdwar taking the last hour. Plan an early start and a lunch halt en route. After checking in at your hotel, walk to Bhulla Tal, the small lake maintained by the Garhwal Rifles, and settle in for the evening. Overnight stay in Lansdowne.

Day 2: Lansdowne Sightseeing

After breakfast, visit the Garhwal Rifles Regimental War Memorial and the Darwan Singh Sangrahalaya, the regimental museum holding uniforms, weapons and campaign records from 1887 onwards. Continue to St Mary’s Church, built in 1896 and now a heritage centre, and then to Tip-in-Top viewpoint for the Garhwal ranges on a clear day. In the afternoon, drive out to Tarkeshwar Mahadev Temple, roughly 38 km each way through deodar and cedar forest, one of the quieter temple settings in the region. Return via Bhim Pakora, where two boulders rest on each other above the road. End the day at Snow View Point. Overnight stay in Lansdowne.

Day 3: Lansdowne – Haldwani / Kathgodam Departure

Start with an early visit to Santoshi Mata Temple on the ridge above the town, followed by a short stop at St John’s Church and a walk through the cantonment’s old bazaar. Return to the hotel for breakfast, check out, and descend to Kotdwar. Depending on your departure time, stop at Sidhbali Temple or Kanvashram near Kotdwar before the long drive back through Najibabad and Kashipur, transferring to Kathgodam railway station or Haldwani for your onward journey.
