Day 1: Arrival in Bhubaneswar – Long Ascent to Daringbadi

Arrive in Bhubaneswar and meet our tour representative at the airport or railway station. Set off early for Daringbadi in the Kandhamal hills, roughly 247 km and around 5.5 to 6.5 hours by road via NH16 and NH59. This is a long travel day, built as one — an early start is essential to clear the winding Ghat section in daylight. Break the drive with a lunch and leg-stretch en route. Arrive in the late afternoon, check in at the Daringbadi Nature Camp or a hill resort, and settle in by a bonfire as the temperature drops sharply after dark. Overnight stay in Daringbadi.

Day 2: Daringbadi Sightseeing – Pine, Coffee, Valleys and Viewpoints

A full, unhurried day among the hill station’s spread-out sights, rewarding the long drive of Day 1. Visit the pine jungle and the coffee and pepper plantations, the Emu farm at Kirikuti (about 14 km out), Lover’s Point where the Doluri river winds through the valley (about 13 km), the Butterfly Park, and the sunset viewpoint. The pleasure is the cool climate and scenery rather than a checklist. In peak winter, dawn can bring frost — a rarity found nowhere else in Odisha. Overnight stay in Daringbadi.

Day 3: Descent to Gopalpur – From Cold Pine to Warm Sea

After breakfast, check out and descend from the hills to the coast, transferring to Gopalpur-on-Sea, roughly 130 to 140 km and around 4 hours by road via Berhampur. This is the trip’s signature day — cold pine hills to a warm golden beach in a single drive. Check in at your beachfront hotel or the OTDC Panthanivas. Spend the late afternoon on the calm, swimmable sand, ending at the colonial-era lighthouse for a panoramic view over town and the Bay of Bengal. Overnight stay in Gopalpur.

Day 4: Gopalpur at Leisure – Beach, Lighthouse and Optional Excursions

A full beach day and the trip’s rest. Sunrise over the bay is Gopalpur’s signature; the rest of the day suits swimming, walking, seafood and the old port-town character. Optional excursions include the Rushikulya turtle coast in nesting season (about 45 km, subject to access restrictions and the unpredictable arribada), Rambha on southern Chilika for a lagoon cruise, or Ganjam handloom shopping in Berhampur. Overnight stay in Gopalpur.

Day 5: Gopalpur – Bhubaneswar Departure

A final slow beach morning before breakfast. Check out and transfer back to Bhubaneswar on the easy coastal highway, around 170 km and 3 to 4 hours via NH16, in time for an evening onward train or flight. An optional break at Chilika (Barkul) or Puri can be added if the schedule allows. Overnight journey onward.
