Day 1: Arrival in Indore – Transfer to Sailani Island

Arrive in Indore and meet our tour representative at the airport or railway station. Drive to Sailani Island, approximately 95 km and around 2.5 hours by road through the Malwa countryside toward Omkareshwar. The last stretch is by boat: private vehicles cannot reach the resort, so you park at the designated jetty and cross the Indira Sagar backwater by the resort’s own boat, in daylight only. Check in at MPT Sailani Island Resort, the single property on the island, and settle in over lunch on the APAI meal plan. Spend the afternoon on the water with the resort’s activities, cruise ride, speed boat, paddle boat, or simply take the island’s walking trails as the light drops over the Narmada backwater. Overnight stay at Sailani Island.

Day 2: Sailani Island – Omkareshwar Excursion

After breakfast, cross back to the mainland for the short drive to Omkareshwar, one of the twelve Jyotirlinga shrines of Shiva, set on an Om-shaped island in the Narmada. Take darshan at the Shri Omkar Mandhata temple, walk the riverfront ghats, and, if time allows, the Mamleshwar temple across the water. Return to Sailani in the afternoon, timed to cross back to the island before dark, since boating stops at nightfall. The rest of the day is yours for the water activities or the quiet of the island. Overnight stay at Sailani Island.

Day 3: Sailani Island – Maheshwar – Indore Departure

After an early breakfast, check out and cross to the mainland. Drive to Maheshwar, approximately 40 km, the riverside town of Ahilyabai Holkar on the banks of the Narmada, known for its ghats, the hilltop fort, and its handloom Maheshwari saris still woven at the Rehwa Society. Spend the late morning at the fort and ghats before continuing to Indore, approximately 90 km and around 2 hours, for your onward flight or train. Trip ends on arrival in Indore.
