Day 1: Arrival – Transfer to Gandhi Sagar (Bhanpura)

Arrive at Indore and meet our tour representative. Most travellers route through Indore, approximately 250 km and around 5 to 6 hours by road, or through Ratlam railway station, which is closer at roughly 150 km and around 3 hours. This is a genuine transfer day, not a sightseeing day: the distance to the far north-west corner of Madhya Pradesh is real and should be built in honestly. Check in at your resort near the Gandhi Sagar reservoir, in the Bhanpura area, close to the cluster of attractions. Spend the late afternoon at the Gandhi Sagar Dam itself, one of four major dams on the Chambal, for the reservoir views and the sunset over the water. Overnight stay at Gandhi Sagar.

Day 2: Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary, Chaturbhuj Nala & Hinglajgarh

After an early breakfast, head into the Gandhi Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary, 368 sq km of Khathiar-Gir dry deciduous forest and open grassland along the Chambal, by open jeep, for the terrain, birdlife and dry-country wildlife. Continue to the Chaturbhuj Nala rock shelters, a 5 km gallery of prehistoric rock paintings lined along a perennial stream, among the most significant rock-art sites in Central India. In the afternoon, visit Hinglajgarh (Hinglaj) Fort, the hilltop fort near Navali village holding sculptures spanning the Gupta to Parmara periods. Return to the resort for the evening. Overnight stay at Gandhi Sagar.

Day 3: Kanwla “Mini Goa” – Departure

After breakfast, drive to Kanwla village on the Chambal, the spot known locally as Mini Goa, where westerly winds drive waves against the rock and sand to create a beach-like shoreline. Spend the morning at the river, then, depending on your onward plan, either continue to the Bhanpura Museum for the Hinglajgarh sculptures or begin the return journey. Transfer back to Indore for your onward train or flight. Trip ends on departure.
