Day 1: Arrival in Dehradun / Haridwar – Transfer to Chakrata

Arrive in Dehradun or Haridwar and meet our tour representative at the airport or railway station. Transfer to Chakrata, a cantonment town at roughly 2,100 m in the Jaunsar-Bawar region, held by the army since 1866 and largely untouched by hill-station development. The drive covers roughly 90 km from Dehradun and takes 3 to 3.5 hours via Vikasnagar and Kalsi; from Haridwar allow 4.5 to 5 hours. Break the journey at Kalsi for the Ashokan Rock Edict, one of the few of its kind in North India, and for the Yamuna and Tons confluence nearby. After checking in at your hotel, walk out to Chilmiri Neck for the sunset view across the Jaunsar ridges. Overnight stay in Chakrata.

Day 2: Chakrata Sightseeing

After breakfast, drive to Deoban, roughly 13 km through some of the densest deodar and oak forest in this part of Garhwal, with Himalayan range views on a clear morning and good birding along the way. Continue to the Budher Caves, a set of limestone formations reached by a forest walk from the road head. In the afternoon, head to Tiger Falls, roughly 20 km from town, with the final approach on foot down a stepped forest path to the pool at the base. Return via Ram Tal Horticulture Garden for the orchards and the quiet water. Overnight stay in Chakrata.

Day 3: Chakrata – Dehradun / Haridwar Departure

Start with an early drive towards Mundali or Koti Kanasar for the old-growth deodar stands and the morning light on the ridges. Return to the hotel for breakfast, check out, and descend towards the valley. Depending on your departure time, stop at Lakhamandal, the ancient temple complex on the Yamuna associated with the Mahabharata, before continuing through Kalsi and Vikasnagar to Dehradun airport, or on to Haridwar for your onward journey.
