Day 1: Mangalore – Honnavar

Depart Mangalore by road, approximately 175 to 180 km and 3.3 to 3.5 hours via the coastal NH66. Check in at your homestay or lodge in Honnavar by mid-afternoon. Visit Kasarkod Beach, about 2 km from town, a quiet 5 km stretch of golden sand, followed by the Mangrove Boardwalk nearby for an easy walk through the Sharavathi estuary’s wetlands. In the evening, head to Apsarakonda, about 6 to 8 km away, where a waterfall descending into a natural pond sits just behind a beach known for its sunset views. Overnight stay in Honnavar.

Day 2: Basavaraja Durga and Gerusoppa

After breakfast, a boat trip out to Basavaraja Durga, a fortified island in the Arabian Sea built during the Vijayanagar era, weather and tide permitting. In the afternoon, drive to Gerusoppa, about 34 km away, once the seat of the Chowta dynasty, to see Gerusoppa Fort and Neelakanteshwara Temple, followed by a short forest walk of around 2 km to Chaturmukha Basadi, a 14th-century Jain temple known for its four-doored design. Overnight stay in Honnavar.

Day 3: Murudeshwar – Mangalore Departure

After breakfast, check out and drive to Murudeshwar, about 26 to 28 km away, for a half-day visit to Murudeshwar Temple, home to one of the tallest Shiva statues in the world, and the Raja Gopura for a coastal view. Continue on the return drive to Mangalore, arriving by evening.
