Day 1: Mangalore – Maravanthe

Depart Mangalore by road, approximately 110 to 115 km and 2 to 2.5 hours via NH66. Check in at your beachfront resort by early afternoon. Spend the evening at Maravanthe Beach, the striking stretch where the highway runs narrow between the Arabian Sea on one side and the Souparnika river on the other, best appreciated at sunset. Overnight stay in Maravanthe.

Day 2: Kollur Mookambika Temple

After breakfast, a day trip to Kollur, about 30 to 35 km away, to visit Sri Mookambika Temple, one of the most significant Shakti pilgrimage sites in South India. Return to Maravanthe by afternoon for a relaxed evening on the beach. Overnight stay in Maravanthe.

Day 3: Maravanthe – Honnavar

After breakfast, check out and drive to Honnavar, about 65 to 70 km and 1.5 hours via NH66. Check in by early afternoon. Visit Kasarkod Beach and the nearby Mangrove Boardwalk, followed by Apsarakonda, where a waterfall meets a beach known for its sunset views. Overnight stay in Honnavar.

Day 4: Basavaraja Durga and Gerusoppa

After breakfast, a boat trip out to Basavaraja Durga, a fortified island built during the Vijayanagar era, weather and tide permitting. In the afternoon, drive to Gerusoppa, about 34 km away, once the seat of the Chowta dynasty, for Gerusoppa Fort and Neelakanteshwara Temple, followed by a short forest walk to Chaturmukha Basadi, a 14th-century Jain temple. Overnight stay in Honnavar.

Day 5: Honnavar – Jog Falls (Kargal)

After breakfast, check out and drive to Kargal, the town at Jog Falls itself, about 60 to 80 km and 1.5 to 2 hours via a well-maintained coastal-to-Ghat road. Check in by early afternoon, then spend the rest of the day at Jog Falls, India’s second-highest plunge waterfall, viewing the four segmented cascades, Raja, Rani, Roarer and Rocket, from the main viewpoint and Raja Site. Overnight stay near Jog Falls.

Day 6: Linganamakki Dam and Honnemaradu

After breakfast, visit Linganamakki Dam, situated right at Kargal village, one of India’s largest earthen reservoirs and the source that regulates the falls’ flow. Continue to Honnemaradu, about 20 km away, on the Sharavathi backwaters, known for kayaking and coracle rides, weather and water level permitting. Overnight stay near Jog Falls.

Day 7: Kargal – Mangalore Departure

After an early breakfast, check out and depart on the return drive to Mangalore, approximately 250 km and 5 to 5.5 hours via Honnavar, arriving by evening.
