Day 1: Arrival in Bangalore – Transfer to Nagarhole

Arrive in Bangalore and meet our tour representative at the airport or railway station. Transfer to Nagarhole, driving southwest through Mysuru and into the forest buffer around Nagarhole National Park. The drive takes approximately 4.5 to 5 hours and the approach through the Kabini backwater belt announces the change in landscape well before the resort. Check in at your jungle stay on the Nagarhole – Kabini fringe by early to mid-afternoon. Spend the evening on the property or join a late afternoon boat ride or jeep safari if pre-booked. The Kabini backwaters hold one of the highest densities of wildlife in southern India, and elephant, gaur, spotted deer and mugger crocodile are commonly seen from the river. Overnight stay in Nagarhole – Kabini.

Day 2: Nagarhole Wildlife and Kabini Backwaters

After an early breakfast, head out for a morning jeep safari into Nagarhole Tiger Reserve. The mixed deciduous and bamboo forest along the Kabini river corridor is among the most productive wildlife habitat in the country, with elephant herds, gaur, spotted deer, wild dog, sloth bear and leopard all present in reasonable numbers. Return for lunch and rest through the mid-afternoon. Head out for an evening coracle ride or boat safari on the Kabini backwaters, where the receding water levels between October and May concentrate wildlife along the river margins in numbers that few reserves in India can match. Overnight stay in Nagarhole – Kabini.

Day 3: Nagarhole – Second Safari – Transfer to Bandipur

After an early morning jeep safari, have breakfast and check out. Drive from Nagarhole through Mysuru and south towards Bandipur, a journey of approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. The two reserves share the same Nilgiri Biosphere landscape but feel distinctly different on the ground. Check in at your jungle stay on the Bandipur fringe by early afternoon. Spend the late afternoon on a guided nature walk around the resort boundary or join an evening safari if the slot has been pre-booked. Overnight stay in Bandipur.

Day 4: Bandipur Wildlife and Forest Exploration

After an early breakfast, head out for a morning jeep safari into Bandipur Tiger Reserve. The open woodland and scrub grassland terrain makes Bandipur one of the better reserves in southern India for spotting elephant herds, gaur, spotted deer, wild dog and four-horned antelope across longer distances. Return for lunch and rest through the early afternoon. Head out again for an evening safari as the light softens over the open grassland. Bandipur’s drier, more open character contrasts sharply with the river-fed density of Nagarhole and gives the traveller a different kind of sighting experience in the same biosphere. Overnight stay in Bandipur.

Day 5: Bandipur – Mudumalai – Masinagudi

After an early breakfast, check out and drive from Bandipur into Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, the two reserves share a continuous forest boundary and the transition happens almost imperceptibly on the Ooty highway. Stop at the Forest Interpretation Centre at Theppakadu for an overview of the Mudumalai ecosystem and visit Theppakadu Elephant Camp. Continue to Masinagudi and check in at your jungle stay on the forest fringe. Spend the late afternoon at Moyar River viewpoint and the Sigur plateau edge where the dry forest opens into grassland. The shift from Bandipur to Masinagudi is subtle in distance but significant in feel, denser canopy, narrower roads and the forest pressing closer to the ground-level experience. Overnight stay in Masinagudi.

Day 6: Masinagudi Wildlife and Sigur Plateau

After an early breakfast, head out for a morning jeep safari into Mudumalai Tiger Reserve. The forest tracks through the dry teak and bamboo belt offer the best conditions for sighting gaur, spotted deer, elephant and wild dog in the early hours. Return for lunch and spend the afternoon on a naturalist-led drive through the Sigur plateau, covering the Bokkapuram forest corridor and the grassland edges where the dry forest thins into open scrub. In the late afternoon, return to the resort for a boundary nature walk if the property permits one. Overnight stay in Masinagudi.

Day 7: Masinagudi – Departure to Bangalore

Start with an early morning nature walk or a second jeep safari slot if pre-booked and if departure timing permits. After breakfast and check out, drive through Mudumalai and Gudalur before joining the Mysuru highway back to Bangalore. Stop at Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta temple and viewpoint above Bandipur on the return if time and forest access permits, one of the better elevated views across the canopy in this part of the Nilgiri Biosphere. Transfer to Bangalore for your departure.
