Day 1: Lucknow to the Terai Grasslands

After breakfast in Lucknow, depart for Pilibhit Tiger Reserve (approximately 250 km, indicatively 5.5 to 6 hours by road). This is a long first-day transfer and worth naming as one; an early start from Lucknow is essential. Check in to your forest lodge by late afternoon. Depending on arrival time, a short evening walk around the lodge grounds eases you into the terai landscape, sugarcane fields giving way to dense sal forest and grassland, before the first proper safari the next morning. Overnight stay at Pilibhit.

Day 2: Full Day of Pilibhit Safaris

An early morning jeep safari into the reserve’s core zone. Pilibhit has, in recent years, recorded one of the highest tiger densities of any reserve in India, and while a sighting is never guaranteed, the odds here are genuinely better than at many more famous parks. Return to the lodge for breakfast and a midday rest through the heat. In the afternoon, a second jeep safari into a different range, to vary the terrain: grassland for deer and birdlife, denser sal forest for a better tiger chance. Overnight stay at Pilibhit.

Day 3: Second Full Day, Different Ground

With two safaris already behind the client, this day is used to cover zones not yet visited, rather than repeating the same range. Morning safari focuses on a quieter block of the reserve known for leopard as well as tiger. Midday rest. Afternoon safari returns to the river-adjacent grassland, good for sloth bear activity in the right season alongside the reserve’s usual deer and birdlife. Overnight stay at Pilibhit.

Day 4: Final Pilibhit Safari and Transfer to Dudhwa

An early final jeep safari to use the best light and quietest hours, closing out Pilibhit with a fourth and fifth safari behind the client by breakfast. Check out and transfer to Dudhwa National Park (approximately 130 to 150 km, indicatively 3.5 to 4 hours by road via Shahjahanpur and Lakhimpur Kheri, since there is no direct expressway between the two reserves). Check in on arrival. Evening at leisure or a short orientation walk. Overnight stay at Dudhwa.

Day 5: Dudhwa’s Grasslands and Swamp Deer

An early morning jeep safari into Dudhwa’s core zone, known for its extensive grasslands and one of India’s largest populations of swamp deer (barasingha), alongside a healthy tiger population in its own right and consistent sightings of hog deer and sambar. Return for breakfast and a midday rest. In the afternoon, a second safari, potentially by elephant where the forest department offers it for that day (elephant safaris in Dudhwa are seasonal and subject to availability, not a fixed daily service), reaching areas jeeps cannot access. Overnight stay at Dudhwa.

Day 6: Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary

A full day dedicated to Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary, part of the wider Dudhwa Tiger Reserve landscape and a short drive from the main Dudhwa lodge. Kishanpur is quieter than Dudhwa’s core zone, with fewer visitors and a strong reputation among naturalists for tiger and leopard sightings along its water bodies. A second safari in the late afternoon focuses on birdlife along the Sharda River, which borders the sanctuary. Overnight stay at Dudhwa.

Day 7: Final Safari and Return to Lucknow

An early final jeep safari at Dudhwa or Kishanpur, whichever the client wants to revisit, followed by breakfast and check-out. Transfer back to Lucknow (approximately 230 km, indicatively 5 to 5.5 hours), timed against onward travel.
