Day 1: Arrival in Berhampur – Transfer to Mahendragiri

Arrive in Berhampur (Brahmapur) and meet our tour representative at the railway station. Set off for Mahendragiri, roughly 85 to 100 km and around 3 to 4 hours by road via Tumba to the Burakhat Pass, followed by a winding 10 to 12 km hairpin climb to the summit. Check in at the Mahendragiri Nature Camp. Overnight stay at Mahendragiri.

Day 2: The Summit – Ancient Temples and the Triple Peaks

A full day at the summit, revered as the site where the sage Parasurama meditated, with ancient temples across the mountain’s three peaks said to have been built by the Pandavas. Overnight stay at Mahendragiri.

Day 3: Descent via Gandahati Waterfall – Transfer to Ghodahada

After breakfast, check out and descend via Gandahati Waterfall, roughly 30 km from Mahendragiri, then on to Ghodahada. Check in at the Ghodahada Nature Camp on the reservoir’s edge, known for its mugger crocodile rearing programme. Overnight stay at Ghodahada.

Day 4: Ghodahada Morning – Transfer to Jiranga (Chandragiri) – Padmasambhava Mahavihara

A relaxed morning boat ride and a visit to the Ujjaleswar cave temple. After breakfast, transfer to Jiranga, roughly 60 to 70 km through Digapahandi and past the Taptapani hot spring. Check in at a simple guesthouse in the Tibetan settlement and visit the Padmasambhava Mahavihara, the largest Buddhist monastery in eastern India. Overnight stay in Jiranga.

Day 5: The Long Transfer – Jiranga to Daringbadi

After an early breakfast, check out and begin the trip’s longest and most demanding single transfer, crossing remote, lightly travelled rural Odisha between the Gajapati and Kandhamal hill districts. This should be planned as a full day devoted entirely to the road, with a very early start and no activity scheduled alongside it. Arrive in Daringbadi in the evening and check in at the Daringbadi Nature Camp or a hill resort. Overnight stay in Daringbadi.

Day 6: Daringbadi Sightseeing – Pine, Coffee and Valley Viewpoints

A full recovery day among Daringbadi’s spread-out sights: the pine jungle and coffee and pepper plantations, the Emu farm at Kirikuti, Lover’s Point where the Doluri river winds through the valley, the Butterfly Park, and the sunset viewpoint. In peak winter, dawn can bring frost. Overnight stay in Daringbadi.

Day 7: Transfer to Mandasaru – The Silent Valley of Odisha

After breakfast, check out and transfer to Mandasaru, roughly 30 to 33 km and around an hour by road via Simandbadi and Linguma – a remote gorge ecosystem known locally as Gdang Kutti and called the Silent Valley of Odisha. Check in at the Mandasaru Valley Nature Camp, a hilltop forest-department property run by a local women’s self-help group. In the afternoon, walk to the Pisogrundu waterfall via the watchtower viewpoint. Overnight stay in Mandasaru.

Day 8: Mandasaru – Berhampur Departure

After breakfast, check out and transfer back to Berhampur, roughly 150 to 155 km and around 4 to 5 hours by road, in time for your onward train. Overnight journey onward.
