Day 1: Arrival in Jagdalpur – Chitrakoot Falls

Arrive in Jagdalpur, the district headquarters of Bastar in Chhattisgarh, and meet our tour representative at the railway station. Check in at your hotel. In the afternoon, transfer to Chitrakoot Falls, roughly 38 to 40 km and around an hour by road, on the Indravati River. Often called the “Niagara of India” for its broad horseshoe shape – the widest waterfall in the country in full monsoon flow – Chitrakoot is best experienced at golden hour, when the setting sun catches the spray rising off the falls. Return to Jagdalpur for the evening. Overnight stay in Jagdalpur.

Day 2: Tirathgarh Falls, Kutumsar Cave and Bastar Tribal Culture

After breakfast, head out in the opposite direction to Tirathgarh Falls, roughly 36 km away, where the Kanger river drops around 91 metres in a striking criss-cross, multi-tiered pattern through the forests of Kanger Valley National Park. Nearby, visit Kutumsar Cave, a 200-metre limestone cavern along the Kanger belt, walked via a built concrete pathway (subject to seasonal closure – see notes below). In the afternoon, spend time with Bastar’s distinctive tribal culture – a visit to a Dokra metal-craft workshop to see the region’s ancient lost-wax casting technique, and the Danteswari Shakti Peeth temple, one of the most significant shrines in this tribal heartland. Overnight stay in Jagdalpur.

Day 3: Transfer via Koraput to Deomali

After breakfast, check out and begin the transfer toward Deomali, first crossing into Odisha via Koraput, roughly 105 to 115 km and around 2 to 2.5 hours by road on NH43, then continuing a further 60 to 70 km and around 2 hours to Deomali itself via Semiliguda and Kunduli – a full but manageable travel day of around 4.5 hours in total driving, crossing from Chhattisgarh’s Bastar plateau into Odisha’s Eastern Ghats. Check in at the Deomali Nature Camp on the hilltop, Odisha’s highest point at 1,672 metres. Spend the evening at altitude in cool mountain air. Overnight stay at Deomali.

Day 4: Sunrise Above the Clouds – Waterfall Trek

An early start, ideally before dawn, for Deomali’s signature experience – standing at the summit edge as mist and cloud fill the valleys below while the peak stays clear, and the Eastern Ghats emerge layer by layer in the first light. Spend the morning at the hilltop viewpoints and the tribal foothill villages of the Kotia Panchayat. In the afternoon, trek to the nearby Deomali Waterfall through forest and undulating terrain; the descent is rewarding, but the return climb can turn slippery, so pace and proper footwear matter. Overnight stay at Deomali.

Day 5: Deomali – Drop at Koraput

A final quiet morning at the hilltop camp before breakfast. Check out and transfer to Koraput, roughly 60 to 70 km and around 2 hours by road, where your tour concludes with a drop at the railway station or your onward point of departure.
