Day 1: Arrival in Bangalore – Transfer to Masinagudi

Arrive in Bangalore and meet our tour representative at the airport or railway station. Transfer to Masinagudi, entering the Nilgiri Biosphere through the Mysuru highway and the Sigur plateau forest corridor that connects Mudumalai, Nagarhole and Bandipur. The drive takes approximately 5.5 to 6 hours and the final approach through Bokkapuram brings the dry deciduous forest right up to the road. Check in at your jungle stay on the Masinagudi fringe and spend the evening on the property. The forest boundary is close enough that elephant, gaur and spotted deer are occasionally visible from the resort perimeter in the late afternoon. Overnight stay in Masinagudi.

Day 2: Masinagudi Wildlife and Mudumalai

After an early breakfast, head out for a morning jeep safari into Mudumalai Tiger Reserve. The forest tracks through the dry teak and bamboo belt offer the best chance of sighting gaur, spotted deer, elephant, wild dog and occasionally leopard in the early hours. Return for lunch and spend the afternoon at Theppakadu Elephant Camp, where working elephants managed by the Forest Department have been part of this landscape for generations. In the late afternoon, drive to Moyar River viewpoint and the Sigur plateau edge for the evening light over the forest. Overnight stay in Masinagudi.

Day 3: Masinagudi – Gudalur – Karikaiyur Excursion – Kotagiri

After breakfast, check out and drive through Gudalur towards Karikaiyur. The road climbs through tea and coffee estate country before the terrain opens into the rolling grassland of the eastern Nilgiri escarpment. Reach Karikaiyur by late morning and walk to the waterfall viewpoint, a sheer vertical drop of over 300 metres into the valley below, best seen before the afternoon mist closes in. Spend time on the grassland ridge above the falls before continuing to Kotagiri, approximately 14 km away. Check in at your stay in Kotagiri by early afternoon and spend the rest of the day at the quietest and least commercialised of the three Nilgiri hill towns. Overnight stay in Kotagiri.

Day 4: Kotagiri – Kodanad – Catherine Falls – Emerald

After breakfast, visit Kodanad Viewpoint, which offers one of the clearest unobstructed views across the Coimbatore plains on a clear morning, and Catherine Falls viewpoint, one of the tallest two-tier falls in the Nilgiris. Drive through the tea estate roads towards Emerald and check in at your stay in the Avalanche – Emerald belt by mid-afternoon. Spend the remainder of the day beside Emerald Lake as the mist comes in off the shola forest. Overnight stay in the Avalanche – Emerald area.

Day 5: Upper Bhavani and Red Hills

After an early breakfast, report at the forest check post for the drive to Upper Bhavani. The route runs through Red Hills and the Kundah catchment, past Porthimund and Parson’s Valley reservoirs, into the high-altitude grassland at the Mukurthi National Park fringe. Spend the morning at Upper Bhavani Lake and the shola-grassland edges where Nilgiri tahr, sambar and Nilgiri langur are occasionally seen. Return by the permitted exit time, stop at Red Hills viewpoint on the way back, and end the evening at the Emerald Lake shore. Overnight stay in the Avalanche – Emerald area.

Day 6: Avalanche – Korakundah – Pykara – Departure to Bangalore

Start early with Kamaraj Sagar Dam and the Glenmorgan viewpoint above the Singara valley. Return to the property for breakfast and check out. Drive via Korakundah Tea Estate before continuing to Avalanche Lake and the shola trail alongside it. Exit via Pykara Lake, Pykara Falls and the Sandynallah stretch before descending the ghat road towards Mettupalayam. Transfer back to Bangalore for your departure.
