Day 1: Arrival in Bangalore – Transfer to Masinagudi

Arrive in Bangalore and meet our tour representative at the airport or railway station. Transfer to Masinagudi, entering the Nilgiri Biosphere through the Sigur plateau and the forest corridor that connects Mudumalai, Nagarhole and Bandipur. The drive from Bangalore takes approximately 5 to 6 hours depending on traffic and passes through Mysuru before descending into the dry deciduous forest belt around Bokkapuram. Check in at your jungle stay on the Masinagudi fringe and spend the evening on your property. Elephant sightings around the resort boundary are common in the late afternoon and early evening but cannot be guaranteed. Overnight stay in Masinagudi.

Day 2: Masinagudi Wildlife and Mudumalai

After an early breakfast, head out for a morning jeep safari into Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, the best time to sight gaur, spotted deer, elephant and occasionally leopard along the forest tracks. Return for lunch and spend the afternoon at the Theppakadu Elephant Camp, where working elephants have been managed by the Forest Department for decades. In the late afternoon, drive to Moyar River viewpoint and the Sigur plateau edge for the evening light over the dry forest. Overnight stay in Masinagudi.

Day 3: Masinagudi – Ooty – Emerald

After breakfast and check out, begin the climb from Masinagudi up the 36 hairpin bends of the Ooty ghat road, one of the steepest motorable ascents in the Nilgiris. Stop at Doddabetta Peak, the highest point in the Nilgiri Hills at 2,637 metres, for views across the plateau. Continue through Ooty town briefly for lunch before driving on to Emerald village and checking in at your stay in the Avalanche – Emerald belt. Spend the late afternoon beside Emerald Lake as the mist comes in off the shola forest. Overnight stay in the Avalanche – Emerald area.

Day 4: Upper Bhavani and Red Hills

After an early breakfast, report at the forest check post for the drive to Upper Bhavani. The route runs through Red Hills and the Kundah catchment, past Porthimund and Parson’s Valley reservoirs, into the high-altitude grassland at the Mukurthi National Park fringe. Spend the morning at Upper Bhavani Lake and the shola-grassland edges, where Nilgiri tahr, sambar and Nilgiri langur are occasionally seen. Return by the permitted exit time, stop at Red Hills viewpoint on the way back, and end the day at the Emerald Lake shore. Overnight stay in the Avalanche – Emerald area.

Day 5: Avalanche – Pykara – Departure to Bangalore

Start early with Kamaraj Sagar Dam and the Glenmorgan viewpoint above the Singara valley. Return to the property for breakfast and check out. Drive out via Avalanche Lake, Pykara Lake, Pykara Falls and the Sandynallah stretch before descending the ghat road towards Mettupalayam. Transfer back to Bangalore for your departure.
