Day 1: Arrival and the City of Nawabs

On arrival at Lucknow Airport, you will be received and transferred to your hotel. After check-in and some rest, the evening is free to ease into the city. If timings allow, a short visit to Hazratganj or the Chowk area is a good introduction, with its old-city lanes, silver jewellery shops, and the first taste of Awadhi food. Overnight stay in Lucknow.

Day 2: Guided Lucknow Heritage Tour

A full guided day through Old Lucknow’s Nawabi architecture. Begin at the Bara Imambara, including the Bhulbhulaiya (the labyrinth of interconnecting passages built into its upper storey) and the Asfi Mosque within the same complex. Continue to the Rumi Darwaza and the Chota Imambara, noted for its chandeliers and gilded interior. In the afternoon, visit the Residency, the site of the 1857 siege, now a preserved ruin with a small museum. Round off the day with an early dinner built around Lucknow’s Awadhi kitchen: kebabs, biryani, and the city’s slow-cooked dum cooking style, at an established Old Lucknow eatery. Day 3: Transfer to the Perfume Capital

Check out after breakfast and transfer to Kannauj (approximately 80 km, indicatively 2 to 2.5 hours). After check-in, the afternoon is free to settle in. In the evening, visit a local Perfume Gallery or heritage attar house to trace the city’s history as India’s perfume capital, from the Harshavardhana era through the Mughal period, followed by a visit to a renowned ittarwallah to experience the enigmatic Mitti Attar (the scent of first rain). Overnight stay in Kannauj.

Day 4: The Deg-Bhapka Alchemy & Bespoke Blending

A full day given entirely to Kannauj’s perfume trade. Start early (season permitting) with a walk through Damask Rose or Bela Jasmine fields at dawn to witness the hand-harvesting process. Return for breakfast, then visit a traditional attar distillery for a Deg-Bhapka Distillery Walk, watching master distillers (dighoos) tend copper stills through the hydro-distillation process. After lunch, step into a Blending Workshop or “”Fragrance Bar”” to build your own bespoke attar from natural ingredients. Late afternoon is free for the local market, to browse and buy directly from established attar houses. Overnight stay in Kannauj.

Day 5: Return to Lucknow and Departure

After breakfast, check out and transfer back to Lucknow (approximately 80 km, indicatively 2 to 2.5 hours), timed against your flight. Depending on the departure hour, there may be time for a final stop, such as the Dilkusha Kothi ruins or last-minute shopping in Hazratganj, before being transferred to Lucknow Airport for your onward journey.
