Day 1: Arrival at NJP or Bagdogra – Drive to Gorumara

Meet our tour leader and the group at New Jalpaiguri railway station or Bagdogra airport and drive to the Gorumara area, around Lataguri and Chalsa, approximately 80 to 90 km and 2.5 to 3 hours by road. Check in at your lodge or resort and have lunch. In the late afternoon, walk along the Murti river bank at the forest edge, with its wide stony bed and views of the forest beyond. Dinner at the lodge, with a briefing for the next morning’s safari. Overnight stay in the Gorumara area.

Day 2: Gorumara Safari and Tea Garden

Set out early for a jeep safari in Gorumara National Park, through grassland and forest where one-horned rhinos, Indian gaur, elephants, deer, peacocks and a wide range of birds can be seen, depending on the day. Return for breakfast. After lunch and a rest, visit a nearby tea estate in the Dooars to see how tea is plucked and processed, with a tasting. Evening at leisure at the lodge. Overnight stay in the Gorumara area.

Day 3: Transfer to Jaldapara – Afternoon Safari

After breakfast, check out and drive east to the Jaldapara area, around Madarihat, approximately 100 km and around 3 hours by road, passing tea gardens and forest belts, with a stop at the Chilapata forest and the ruins of Nalrajar Garh if time allows. Check in at your lodge and have lunch. In the afternoon, take a jeep safari in Jaldapara National Park, known for its one-horned rhinos and elephants, in tall grassland along the Torsa river. Dinner at the lodge. Overnight stay in Jaldapara.

Day 4: Jaldapara Morning Safari and Forest Day

Start early with an elephant safari or a second jeep safari in Jaldapara, subject to availability and slot allocation, at the time when the forest is most active. Return for breakfast. Spend the late morning at the lodge or visit a nearby village. After lunch and a rest, visit Jayanti on the Buxa Tiger Reserve edge or a riverside stop, depending on road and weather. Evening at leisure, with a group dinner. Overnight stay in Jaldapara.

Day 5: Departure

After breakfast, check out and transfer to New Alipurduar railway station for onward travel by train, or drive to New Jalpaiguri railway station or Bagdogra airport, approximately 150 km and around 4 hours by road, timed to your train or flight.
