Day 01: Malda Jami Masjid and Old Ghats

Arrive at Malda Town railway station and meet our tour representative, transfer to your hotel and freshen up; in the afternoon drive to Old Malda, the historic river port on the Mahananda, to visit the Jami Masjid and the Nimasarai Tower, then stroll along the old ghats at dusk as the light falls over the river before returning to the hotel for dinner and an early night. Overnight stay in Malda.

Day 02: Gour Firoz Minar and Baro Sona

After an early breakfast drive south to Gour, the ruined capital of Bengal’s sultans (around 15 km), begin at Dakhil Darwaza the ceremonial gateway of the old citadel, walk to Firoz Minar and the Baro Sona Masjid with its long arcade of domes, then continue to Qadam Rasul, Lukochuri Darwaza, Chamkati Mosque and Gumti Gate and finish the visit at Ramkeli associated with Sri Chaitanya; after lunch drive north to Pandua (about 20 km) to see the vast Adina Mosque and the Eklakhi Mausoleum with its terracotta work, then return to Malda in the evening. Overnight stay in Malda.

Day 03: Murshidabad Hazarduari Palace and Imambara

After breakfast check out and drive to Murshidabad (approximately 110 km, about 3 hours) moving from the sultans’ Bengal into the nawabs’ Bengal, check in at the hotel and break for lunch; in the afternoon visit the 19th-century Hazarduari Palace with its thousand doors now housing a museum of arms and royal furnishings, then explore the impressive Imambara and the Madina Mosque beside it and walk along the Bhagirathi at dusk. Overnight stay in Murshidabad.

Day 04: Murshidabad Katra Mosque and Khushbagh

After breakfast visit Katra Mosque built by Murshid Quli Khan (whose burial is beneath the entrance steps), continue to Khushbagh the garden cemetery with the tombs of Nawab Alivardi Khan and Siraj-ud-Daulah, then see Jafarganj Deuri the ruined gateway of Mir Jafar’s residence and spend the late morning at Motijheel and at Kathgola Garden and its Jain temple if time allows; check out and transfer to the railway station for your onward journey to Kolkata or beyond.
