Day 1: Arrival in Balasore – Transfer to Kuldiha – Evening Safari

Arrive in Balasore and meet our tour representative at the railway station. Transfer to Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary, roughly 30 km and around an hour by road through the Nilagiri reserved-forest belt. Stop at the forest range office or the Balianal check gate to arrange the day entry permit before proceeding to your accommodation. After settling in, head out for the afternoon safari, roughly 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm, moving along the tracks through dense Sal and mixed deciduous forest as the light drops. Kuldiha is one of the few sanctuaries in India where visitors travel through the forest in their own vehicle with a forest guide, rather than in a shared jeep. Overnight stay in Kuldiha.

Day 2: Kuldiha – Morning Safari, Salt Lick and Forest Interior

Start early with the morning safari, roughly 5:00 am to 7:00 am, the better window for movement near the water bodies and salt-lick points where herbivores and, on lucky mornings, elephants gather. After breakfast, spend the middle of the day exploring the forest on foot with the guide where permitted, or resting through the heat. Kuldiha is a birding forest first and a big-mammal forest second, with well over 250 recorded species, so the quieter daytime hours reward binoculars and patience. Head out again for the afternoon safari around 4:00 pm before the gate closes. Overnight stay in Kuldiha.

Day 3: Kuldiha – Transfer to Panchalingeswar – Temple and Hills

An optional dawn safari is available for a last drive before leaving. After breakfast, check out and transfer to Panchalingeswar, about 12 km and a short drive away at the foot of the Nilagiri hills. Check in, then head to the Panchalingeswar temple — five Shiva lingams set in a perennial stream near the hilltop, reached by a short but real climb up stone steps, with the ritual of touching the submerged lingams by hand being the draw as much as the shrine. Time the climb for the cooler part of the day. Spend the rest of the afternoon on the surrounding foothills, the seasonal waterfalls, and the forest edge. Overnight stay in Panchalingeswar.

Day 4: Panchalingeswar – Balasore Departure

After breakfast, check out and, if time allows, make a short morning stop en route — Emami Jagannath Temple or the Khirachora Gopinath Temple at Remuna both sit on the road back. Transfer to Balasore, around 30 km and roughly an hour by road, in time for your onward train. Overnight journey onward.
