Day 1: Bangalore – Hampi

Depart Bangalore early morning by road, approximately 340 km and 6.5 to 7 hours via NH48 and NH50 through Chitradurga. Check in at your hotel on the Hampi Bazaar side by early afternoon. After lunch, visit Virupaksha Temple, the region’s oldest continuously functioning temple, followed by a walk up Hemakuta Hill for a wide view over the boulder landscape and the temple’s gopuram. Close the day with sunset from Matanga Hill, a short but steep climb directly behind the bazaar. Overnight stay in Hampi.

Day 2: Royal Enclosure – Vittala Temple – Crossing to Anegundi

After breakfast, drive to the Royal Enclosure zone, roughly 3 to 4 km from Hampi Bazaar, covering the Elephant Stables, Lotus Mahal, Queen’s Bath, and the Underground Shiva Temple. Stop at the Archaeological Museum at Kamalapura for context on the Vijayanagara Empire before continuing to Vittala Temple, home to the stone chariot and the pillared mandapa. In the evening, cross the Tungabhadra by coracle to the Anegundi side, water levels permitting, and check in to a riverside stay on Virupapura Gaddi (Hippie Island). Overnight stay riverside.

Day 3: Anegundi and Anjanadri Hill – Daroji Sloth Bear Sanctuary

Morning at leisure by the river, with an option to walk into Anegundi village and climb Anjanadri Hill, which local legend places as the birthplace of Hanuman. After lunch, cross back to the Hampi side and drive to Daroji Sloth Bear Sanctuary, approximately 30 km via Kamalapura, timed for the early evening feeding hour when sloth bears are most likely to be seen. Return to Hampi Bazaar side for overnight stay.

Day 4: Hampi – Bangalore Departure

After breakfast, check out. If time and the return schedule allow, stop en route at Tungabhadra Dam near Hospet before continuing the drive back to Bangalore, arriving by early evening depending on traffic.
