Day 1: Arrival in Mumbai / Pune – Transfer to Bhandardara

Arrive in Mumbai or Pune and meet our tour representative at the airport or railway station. Transfer to Bhandardara, a valley in the Ahmednagar district built around Arthur Lake and the Wilson Dam, ringed by the highest peaks in the Sahyadris. The drive takes most of the day and the final approach runs on narrow ghat roads. After checking in at your hotel, visit the Wilson Dam and walk the lake shore below it. End the day at Randha Falls, where the Pravara river drops through a gorge. Overnight stay in Bhandardara.

Day 2: Kalsubai

An early start for Bari village, at the base of Kalsubai, the highest peak in Maharashtra at 1,646 metres. The climb takes five to six hours round trip with a local guide, and the final stretch uses iron ladders bolted to rock. Travellers who prefer not to summit can walk the lower trail to the first temple and return, then spend the day at Arthur Lake and the Umbrella Falls viewpoint instead. Return to the property by late afternoon and keep the evening free. Overnight stay in Bhandardara.

Day 3: Ratanwadi, Amruteshwar and the Far Shore

After breakfast, drive along the far side of the lake to Ratanwadi, or cross by local boat when water levels allow. Visit the Amruteshwar Temple, an 11th-century stone temple in the Hemadpanthi style, with a stepped water tank alongside. Continue to the base of Ratangad Fort for a short walk, or stay in the village and take the lake road back at your own pace. In the evening, if the sky is clear, the valley offers some of the darkest skies within reach of either city. Overnight stay in Bhandardara.

Day 4: Bhandardara – Mumbai / Pune Departure

After breakfast, check out from the hotel. Stop at Umbrella Falls if the dam is in overflow, or at the Samrad village viewpoint above the Sandhan Valley, depending on your departure time. Transfer back to Mumbai or Pune for your onward journey.
