Embark on an immersive rainforest adventure with the 3N/4D Agumbe King Cobra Tour, based in the biodiverse haven of Agumbe. Designed for serious nature enthusiasts, the 3N/4D Agumbe King Cobra Tour combines guided night walks, focused King Cobra and primate trails, stream-edge amphibian explorations, and dedicated macro and bird photography sessions for a concentrated yet unhurried field experience.

Day 1: Mangalore – Agumbe (ARRS)

Depart Mangalore by road, approximately 98 to 105 km and 2 to 2.5 hours. Check in at the Agumbe Rainforest Research Station or a nearby specialist-oriented lodge. In the afternoon, an orientation walk through the reserve forest, gliding geckos, rainforest birds, and the trail network. After dinner, the first night walk with an ARRS researcher or trained local guide, focused on the forest floor trails closest to the station. Overnight stay at Agumbe.

Day 2: King Cobra Trail and Macro Photography

Early morning walk specifically oriented toward King Cobra and lion-tailed macaque activity, led by an ARRS researcher or experienced local naturalist. Midday rest, given the humidity and the previous night’s walk. In the afternoon, a macro photography session focused on forest-floor subjects, insects, and any reptiles or amphibians encountered along the way, followed by an evening bird photography window. After dinner, a second night walk on a different trail section. Overnight stay at Agumbe.

Day 3: Stream-Edge Habitat and Extended Search

A lighter-paced morning, gear care and rest after two consecutive night walks, before an afternoon session at the reserve’s stream and pond-edge habitats, a genuinely different micro-habitat from the previous days’ forest floor, and often the richer ground for amphibian macro photography specifically. After dinner, a third night walk covering trail sections not yet explored, extending the search effort and genuinely improving the odds of a King Cobra encounter over the trip as a whole. Overnight stay at Agumbe.

Day 4: Dawn Walk – Mangalore Departure

Early dawn walk for first-light species and bird activity. Breakfast, followed by time to speak with ARRS staff about current research if a researcher is available. Check out and depart on the return drive to Mangalore, arriving by early afternoon.
