Day 1: Arrival in Balasore – Transfer to Chandipur – The Vanishing Sea at Low Tide

Arrive in Balasore and meet our tour representative at the railway station. Transfer to Chandipur, about 16 km and roughly 30 to 40 minutes by road. Check in at your hotel or the OTDC Panthanivas near the beachfront. The day follows the tide chart rather than the clock: at low tide, walk out onto the exposed seabed, where the sea recedes as much as 5 km, revealing horseshoe crabs, starfish, red crabs and shells across the wet sand. Return to the shoreline well before the tide turns. Spend the evening on the casuarina-lined beachfront. Overnight stay in Chandipur.

Day 2: Balaramgadi, Budhabalanga Confluence and a Second Tide

After breakfast, drive the short distance to Balaramgadi, the fishing harbour where the Budhabalanga river meets the sea, to watch the morning catch come in and, tide permitting, take a short fishermen’s boat toward the river mouth. The confluence is a quiet, scenic spot. Return to Chandipur for the day’s low tide and a second, unhurried seabed walk. Watch the sunset over the flats before dinner. Overnight stay in Chandipur.

Day 3: Chandipur at Leisure – Remuna – Transfer to Kuldiha – Evening Safari

A slower morning by the coast, with a final low-tide walk or a visit to the Khirachora Gopinath Temple at Remuna on the way inland. After an early lunch, check out and transfer to Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary, roughly 60 km and around 1.5 to 2 hours by road through the Nilagiri reserved-forest belt. Stop at the forest range office or the Balianal check gate for the day entry permit before proceeding to your accommodation. Head out for the afternoon safari, roughly 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm, through dense Sal and mixed deciduous forest as the light drops. Kuldiha is one of the few sanctuaries in India where visitors travel through the forest in their own vehicle with a forest guide. Overnight stay in Kuldiha.

Day 4: Kuldiha – Two Safaris and the Forest Interior

Start early with the morning safari, roughly 5:00 am to 7:00 am, the better window for movement near the water bodies and salt-lick points where herbivores and, on lucky mornings, elephants gather. After breakfast, spend the middle of the day on a guided forest walk where permitted, or with binoculars near the water bodies — Kuldiha is a birding forest first, with well over 250 recorded species. Head out again for a second afternoon safari around 4:00 pm before the gate closes. Overnight stay in Kuldiha.

Day 5: Kuldiha – Balasore Departure

An optional dawn safari is available for one last drive. After breakfast, check out and transfer to Balasore, around 30 km and roughly an hour by road, in time for your onward train. Overnight journey onward.
