Day 1: Mangalore – Udupi

Depart Mangalore by road, approximately 60 to 65 km and 1 to 1.5 hours via NH66. Check in at your hotel by early afternoon. Visit Sri Krishna Matha, founded by the 13th-century Vaishnavite saint Madhvacharya, along with the adjoining Anantheshwara Temple. In the evening, head to Malpe Beach for a walk along the shore and sunset over the Arabian Sea. Overnight stay in Udupi.

Day 2: St. Mary’s Island, Manipal and Kaup

After an early breakfast, take the ferry from Malpe harbour to St. Mary’s Island, known for its distinctive hexagonal basalt rock formations, seasonal and weather permitting. Return by late morning, then spend the afternoon in Manipal, visiting End Point and the Coin Museum. In the evening, visit Kaup Beach and its 1901 lighthouse. Overnight stay in Udupi.

Day 3: Udupi – Agumbe

After a relaxed breakfast, check out and drive to Agumbe, about 54 to 61 km and 1 to 1.5 hours via the Agumbe Ghat, a winding mountain stretch with around 13 hairpin turns connecting Udupi and Shivamogga districts. Check in at your homestay by early afternoon. In the evening, walk the short trail to Agumbe Sunset Point for the region’s signature view over the Western Ghats. Overnight stay in Agumbe.

Day 4: Barkana Falls and Onake Abbi Falls

After breakfast, trek to Barkana Falls, about 8 km away, India’s tenth-highest waterfall, set deep in the rainforest, with a local guide for the forest stretch. In the afternoon, visit Onake Abbi Falls, closer to the village at a similar distance, or the Agumbe Rainforest Research Station, subject to advance booking, for a look at the region’s King Cobra research. Overnight stay in Agumbe.

Day 5: Agumbe – Mangalore Departure

After breakfast, spend the morning at leisure, a visit to the 14th-century Gopala Krishna Temple known for its Hoysala-style sculpture, or a final daylight visit to Sunset Point for photography. Check out and depart on the return drive to Mangalore, approximately 98 to 105 km and 2 to 2.5 hours, arriving by evening.
