Day 1: Arrival in Bangalore – Transfer to Bandipur

Arrive in Bangalore and meet our tour representative at the airport or railway station. Transfer to Bandipur, driving south through Mysuru and into the dry deciduous forest of Bandipur Tiger Reserve along the Mysuru – Ooty highway. The drive takes approximately 4 to 4.5 hours and the final stretch through the reserve buffer zone sets the tone for the days ahead. Check in at your jungle stay on the Bandipur fringe by early to mid-afternoon. Spend the evening on the property or join a late afternoon jeep safari if the slot has been pre-booked. The open grassland and teak forest around Bandipur hold large elephant herds, gaur and spotted deer that move freely across the resort boundaries in the evening. Overnight stay in Bandipur.

Day 2: Bandipur Wildlife and Forest Exploration

After an early breakfast, head out for a morning jeep safari into Bandipur Tiger Reserve. The open woodland and scrub grassland terrain makes Bandipur one of the better reserves in southern India for spotting elephant herds, gaur, spotted deer, wild dog and four-horned antelope. Return for lunch and rest through the early afternoon when wildlife movement drops. Head out again for an evening safari or a guided nature walk around the resort boundary as permitted by the property. Bandipur’s landscape is drier and more open than Mudumalai, which generally means better visibility across longer distances. Overnight stay in Bandipur.

Day 3: Bandipur – Mudumalai – Masinagudi

After an early breakfast, check out and drive from Bandipur into Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, the two reserves share a continuous forest boundary and the transition happens almost imperceptibly on the highway. Stop at the Forest Interpretation Centre at Theppakadu for an overview of the Mudumalai ecosystem and visit Theppakadu Elephant Camp. Continue to Masinagudi and check in at your jungle stay on the forest fringe. Spend the late afternoon at Moyar River viewpoint and the Sigur plateau edge. The forest character shifts noticeably from Bandipur to Masinagudi, denser, darker and closer to the road, which gives a very different ground-level feel. Overnight stay in Masinagudi.

Day 4: Masinagudi Wildlife and Sigur Plateau

After an early breakfast, head out for a morning jeep safari into Mudumalai Tiger Reserve. The forest tracks through the dry teak and bamboo belt offer the best conditions for sighting gaur, spotted deer, elephant and wild dog. Return for lunch and spend the afternoon exploring the Sigur plateau on a naturalist-led drive, covering the Bokkapuram forest corridor and the grassland edges where the dry forest thins into open scrub. In the late afternoon, return to the resort for a boundary nature walk if permitted. Overnight stay in Masinagudi.

Day 5: Masinagudi – Departure to Bangalore

Start with an early morning nature walk or a second jeep safari slot if pre-booked and if the departure timing permits. After breakfast and check out, drive through Mudumalai and Gudalur before joining the Mysuru highway back to Bangalore. Stop briefly at the Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta temple and viewpoint above Bandipur on the return if time permits, one of the better elevated views across the forest canopy in this part of the Nilgiri Biosphere. Transfer to Bangalore for your departure.
