Day 1: Departure from Pune – Transfer to Satara

Depart Pune in the morning and meet our tour representative at your pickup point. Transfer to Satara, around 110 km down the Bengaluru highway, a drive of roughly two and a half hours. Satara is the district town and the base for the Kaas Plateau, which sits about 25 km above it. After checking in at your hotel, visit the Thoseghar Waterfalls, around 20 km from town, where the falls drop into a wooded gorge and are strongest in and just after the monsoon. Continue to the Chalkewadi wind farm plateau above them for open views along the Sahyadri edge, or to Sajjangad Fort, where the 17th-century saint Ramdas Swami spent his last years. Overnight stay in Satara.

Day 2: Kaas Plateau and Kaas Lake

An early start for the Kaas Plateau, a UNESCO World Heritage listed site within the Western Ghats, where shallow lateritic soil produces successive waves of wildflowers through the flowering season. Entry is by advance online booking with a fixed daily visitor cap, vehicles park away from the plateau and access is by shuttle, and movement is restricted to marked pathways. Spend the morning there, when the light is better and the crowds thinner. Continue to Kaas Lake, then to the Bamnoli jetty on the Koyna backwaters, where boat rides run towards Vasota and the Tapola side when conditions permit. Return to Satara in the evening. Overnight stay in Satara.

Day 3: Satara – Pune Departure

After breakfast, check out from the hotel. Visit Ajinkyatara Fort above Satara town, or the Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum, or stop at the Nataraj Mandir, depending on your departure time. Transfer back to Pune, with the option of a break at Shirwal or Khandala on the highway.
