Day 01: Shimla Kashmere Gate Assembly

Your journey begins in Delhi where you assemble at Kashmere Gate for the overnight Volvo transfer to Shimla; as the plains fall away the overnight Volvo journey offers a comfortable transition into the mountains and sets the stage for the expedition ahead. Overnight stay in Shimla.

Day 02: Sangla 4×4 Expedition

Arrive Shimla early morning and meet your expedition captain and crew for a detailed briefing covering route, weather, safety protocols and group coordination; from here you switch into rugged 4×4 vehicles essential for Spiti’s winter terrain and drive through snow-lined mountain roads and dramatic valleys, gradually entering the pristine Sangla Valley and arriving by evening for hotel check in and rest. Overnight stay in Sangla.

Day 03: Kalpa Chitkul Kamru Fort

After breakfast explore the enchanting Sangla Valley before heading towards Chitkul, the last inhabited village near the Indo-Tibetan border subject to weather conditions; surrounded by snow-covered peaks and the Baspa River, Chitkul offers a surreal winter setting, then visit the historic Kamru Fort and continue to Kalpa perched above the Sutlej Valley where you visit the monastery and nearby viewpoints as evening light paints the mountains. Overnight stay in Kalpa.

Day 04: Tabo Nako Spiti Desert

Depart Kalpa and drive along the Sutlej witnessing the spectacular confluence of the Sutlej and Spiti rivers at Khab, continue to Nako with its frozen lake and ancient monastery, and progress deeper into the stark winter desert of Spiti to arrive in Tabo by evening and settle in near one of the Himalayas’ oldest monastic settlements. Overnight stay in Tabo.

Day 05: Kaza Tabo Dhankar Monastery

After breakfast explore the historic Tabo Monastery, often referred to as the Ajanta of the Himalayas, then continue to the dramatic Dhankar Monastery perched high above the valley with commanding views before driving further into Spiti to reach Kaza, the administrative and cultural heart of the region, where evening is at leisure to rest and acclimatise. Overnight stay in Kaza.

Day 06: Kaza Key Monastery Langza

Today visit Spiti’s iconic high-altitude villages beginning with the majestic Key Monastery overlooking the valley, view the engineering marvel of Chicham Bridge, continue to Hikkim home to the world’s highest post office and to Komic one of the highest motorable villages, and culminate at Langza known for its fossil-rich terrain and giant Buddha statue set against a vast Himalayan backdrop before returning to Kaza. Overnight stay in Kaza.

Day 07: Kalpa Return Through Spiti

After breakfast begin the return journey retracing your route through the dramatic landscapes of Spiti and Kinnaur, enjoying changing light and snow conditions that transform the scenery, and arrive in Kalpa by evening to relax and reflect on the expedition. Overnight stay in Kalpa.

Day 08: Delhi Shimla to Delhi Volvo

Depart Kalpa after breakfast and drive back towards Shimla, gradually descending from stark mountain terrain into forested landscapes, and by evening board the overnight Volvo back to Delhi marking the final overland leg of the expedition. Overnight stay in Delhi.

Day 09: Delhi Expedition Concludes

Arrive in Delhi by morning and conclude your Winter Spiti 4×4 expedition, leaving with memories of snow-covered valleys, ancient monasteries and remote high-altitude villages.
