Day 1: Transfer to Thattekkad
Upon arrival at Ernakulam Station or Kochi Airport, you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Thattekkad. After checking in, spend the evening at leisure with a soft birdwatching trek around the area. Thattekkad is known for its rich avian diversity, and you may spot species such as the Malabar Grey Hornbill, Ceylon Frogmouth, and Indian Pitta. The sanctuary’s varied habitats provide an ideal setting for birdwatching enthusiasts. Overnight stay at Thattekkad.
Day 2: Short Excursion & Full-Day Birdwatching
Start your day with a hearty breakfast before heading out for a full day of birdwatching at the Thattekad Bird Sanctuary. Explore the forest trails and keep an eye out for various bird species such as the Malabar Trogon, White-bellied Treepie, and Grey-headed Bulbul. The sanctuary is also home to the Black Baza, Oriental Bay Owl, and Sri Lanka Frogmouth. Spend the entire day immersed in the natural beauty and avian wonders of Thattekkad. Return to your accommodation for an evening at leisure and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Periyar
After breakfast, check out from your hotel and transfer to Periyar. Upon arrival, check in to your resort and spend the evening at leisure, exploring the surroundings or simply relaxing. Periyar is another excellent birdwatching destination, known for its rich biodiversity. Overnight stay at Periyar.
Day 4: Full-Day Birdwatching
After breakfast, enjoy a boat ride on Periyar Lake (at your own cost), which provides an excellent opportunity to spot waterbirds and other wildlife. Birdwatching for the rest of the day, look out for species such as the Great Hornbill, Malabar Grey Hornbill, White-bellied Blue Flycatcher, and Nilgiri Flycatcher. The lush forests and water bodies of Periyar offer a habitat for birds like the Malabar Parakeet, Blue-winged Parakeet, and Black-necked Stork. Spend the day exploring different birdwatching spots within the sanctuary. Return to your resort for an evening at leisure and an overnight stay.
Day 5: Transfer to Ernakulam/ Kochi
After breakfast, check out from your resort and transfer to Ernakulam Station or Kochi Airport for your onward journey. As you travel back, reminisce about the incredible birdwatching experiences and the diverse species you encountered during the tour. The tour concludes with happy memories of Thattekkad and Periyar’s rich birdlife.
