Day 1: Bangalore – Chitradurga

Depart Bangalore by road, approximately 200 km and 4 hours via NH48. Check in at your hotel by early afternoon. Visit Chandravalli Caves and Lake, an archaeological site with evidence of habitation dating back over 5,000 years, alongside the adjoining Ankali Mutt temple. In the evening, head to Jogimatti, a mini hill station with cooler air and forest trails. Overnight stay in Chitradurga.

Day 2: Chitradurga Fort and Vani Vilas Sagar Dam

Early start, the fort opens at 6am and is best explored before the day’s heat sets in, for a thorough visit to Chitradurga Fort, the massive hill fortress with seven concentric walls. See Onake Obavva Kindi, the crevice where the legendary Onake Obavva single-handedly held off invading soldiers with a wooden pestle, along with Hidimbeshwara Temple and the rock-cut Sampige Sidheshwara Cave Temple. In the afternoon, drive to Vani Vilas Sagar Dam, one of India’s oldest continuously operating dams, for boating and a quiet picnic. Overnight stay in Chitradurga.

Day 3: Molakalmuru Weaving Trail

After breakfast, drive to Molakalmuru, about 80 to 100 km away, to visit local weaver households, arranged through a local contact, to see the traditional three-shuttle pit-loom technique used to weave this saree’s distinctive solid-colour borders and nature-inspired zari motifs, peacocks, florals, fruit and birds. Browse genuine handloom pieces at weaver-run outlets in town. Return to Chitradurga by evening. Overnight stay in Chitradurga.

Day 4: Chitradurga – Bangalore Departure

After a relaxed breakfast, spend the morning at leisure. Check out and depart on the return drive to Bangalore, arriving by early afternoon.
