Day 1: Arrival in Chennai – Transfer to Yelagiri

Arrive in Chennai and meet our tour representative at the airport or railway station. Transfer to Yelagiri, driving southwest along the NH48 through Vellore and turning south at Vaniyambadi before climbing the fourteen hairpin bends of the Yelagiri ghat road into the Javadi Hills. The drive takes approximately 3.5 to 4 hours and the ascent through the ghat is compact but immediate, the temperature dropping and the scrub forest thickening within the first few bends. Yelagiri sits at approximately 1100 metres and the plateau is small enough that the entire hill station feels contained and unhurried from the moment of arrival. Check in at your stay by early afternoon. Spend the evening at Nilavoor Lake, a quiet reservoir on the Yelagiri plateau surrounded by low hills and rose cultivation, and walk the lake perimeter as the plateau light drops. Overnight stay in Yelagiri.

Day 2: Swamimalai Trek, Jalagamparai Falls and Nature Park

After an early breakfast, begin the day with the Swamimalai Hill trek, the highest point on the Yelagiri plateau at approximately 1410 metres, a moderately steep trail through scrub forest and open rocky terrain that takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to ascend and offers a clear view across the Javadi Hills and the plains below on a good morning. Return and drive to Jalagamparai Waterfall, a single drop waterfall approximately 4 km from the main plateau that flows strongest between October and January and involves a short walk through forest to reach the base. Spend the afternoon at the Yelagiri Nature Park, a small but well-maintained park on the plateau with rose gardens, a children’s play area and a viewpoint above the ghat road. End the day at Punganur Lake for a late afternoon boat ride on the reservoir before the light fades. Overnight stay in Yelagiri.

Day 3: Paragliding – Telescope Observatory – Departure to Chennai

Start the morning with paragliding at the Yelagiri launch site if conditions permit, one of the more accessible paragliding locations in Tamil Nadu with tandem flights available through licensed operators for travellers without prior experience. Continue to the Telescope Observatory on the plateau, managed by the Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre and open to the public on specific days, before breakfast and check out. Transfer back to Chennai via the fourteen hairpin bends and the NH48 for your departure.
