Day 1: Trivandrum – Transfer to Kollam & Ashtamudi Introduction

Meet our representative at Trivandrum International Airport or railway station and transfer to Kollam, approximately 1.5 to 2 hours by road up the coast. This is an easy drive, no hill switchbacks, a straightforward run through coastal Kerala. Check in near Ashtamudi Lake and spend the afternoon on the water’s edge, the second-largest lake in Kerala and the quieter, less commercialised cousin of Alleppey’s backwaters. Optional short sunset canoe through the narrow canals. Overnight in Kollam.

Day 2: Kollam – Ashtamudi Backwaters & Coastal Kollam

A full day across Kollam’s genuinely under-touristed offerings. Morning canal cruise through Munroe Island, a cluster of eight islets where village life runs on canoes and coir-making, best seen by small country boat rather than large houseboat, the channels are too narrow for the big vessels here, which is precisely why it stays quiet. Afternoon into Kollam town: the old Portuguese and Dutch trading history, Thangassery lighthouse and the colonial quarter, and the cashew-processing heritage that made this port. Overnight in Kollam.

Day 3: Kollam – Departure to Trivandrum

After a slow breakfast, transfer back to Trivandrum, approximately 1.5 to 2 hours by road, for onward departure. For clients continuing their trip, Varkala’s clifftop beach sits roughly midway and can be added as a stop, worth flagging as an option.
