Day 1: Arrival in Aurangabad – Transfer to Ellora

Arrive in Aurangabad and meet our tour representative at the airport or railway station. Transfer towards Ellora, around 30 km away, where the Grishneshwar Temple stands about a kilometre from the cave complex. The present temple was rebuilt in the 18th century under Ahilyabai Holkar, in red basalt with carved panels along the shikhara. After checking in at your hotel, take darshan at the Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga, the last of the twelve Jyotirlingas. Visit the Shivalaya tank beside it, then end the day at Daulatabad Fort on the return road, or at the Khuldabad dargah complex nearby. Overnight stay in Ellora or Aurangabad.

Day 2: Ellora Caves and Khuldabad

After breakfast, visit the Ellora Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of 34 rock-cut Buddhist, Hindu and Jain monuments spread along a basalt escarpment. Cave 16, the Kailasa temple, is carved downward from a single rock face and needs unhurried time. The site is closed on Tuesdays. In the afternoon, visit Khuldabad, where the tombs of Aurangzeb, Malik Ambar and several Sufi saints lie within walled enclosures, and the Bhadra Maruti temple. Return for the evening. Overnight stay in Ellora or Aurangabad.

Day 3: Aurangabad – Departure

After breakfast, check out from the hotel. Visit the Bibi ka Maqbara, the 17th-century mausoleum built for Dilras Banu Begum, and the Panchakki water mill, or the Aurangabad Caves on the hillside above the city, depending on your departure time. Transfer to Aurangabad airport or railway station for your onward journey.
