Day 1: Bhopal – Transfer to Delawadi – Into the Forest

Meet our tour representative in Bhopal and transfer to Delawadi, approximately 50 to 70 km and around 1.5 to 2 hours on the Rehti road via NH-12, the last stretch through the forest itself. Delawadi sits inside the Ratapani Wildlife Sanctuary in the Vindhyan hills, thick teak forest, birdsong, and no mobile network, the point of coming here is precisely that disconnection. Check in at the MP Eco-Tourism Jungle Camp (tented and cottage accommodation). Spend the afternoon settling into the forest with a short guided nature walk or birdwatching, and end the day with a bonfire and simple camp dinner under the stars. Overnight stay at Delawadi.

Day 2: Ratapani Forest – Trek, Ginnorgarh Fort & Birding

The core day, built around the forest. After an early breakfast, timed for the best birding and animal movement, set out on a guided forest trek or safari drive through the Ratapani sanctuary, dry and moist deciduous teak jungle rich in birdlife and, for the fortunate, larger wildlife. Visit the hilltop Ginnorgarh Fort, roughly 3 km from camp, for its ruins and wide views over the forested Vindhyas. Depending on the camp’s current activity roster and season, the afternoon may offer light adventure, trekking, rappelling, or a visit to a nearby waterfall or dam, followed by a second birding window at dusk. Overnight stay at Delawadi.

Day 3: Bhimbetka en route – Return to Bhopal

After a relaxed breakfast, check out. Because Bhimbetka lies within the same Ratapani sanctuary and roughly on the way back, the strongest closing note is a stop at the UNESCO-listed Bhimbetka Rock Shelters, prehistoric cave paintings up to 30,000 years old, before continuing to Bhopal. Travellers who prefer a pure-nature trip can instead keep the morning slow in camp and transfer directly. Trip ends on arrival in Bhopal. (For a Buddhist-interest traveller, the little-known Saru Maru caves with Ashokan inscriptions are also within the wider Sehore area and can replace Bhimbetka.)
