Day 1: Arrival in Balasore – Transfer to Chandipur – The Vanishing Sea at Low Tide

Arrive in Balasore and meet our tour representative at the railway station. Transfer to Chandipur, about 16 km and roughly 30 to 40 minutes by road. Check in at your hotel or the OTDC Panthanivas near the beachfront. The whole trip is built around the tide, so the day’s plan follows the tide chart rather than the clock: at low tide, walk out onto the exposed seabed, where the sea recedes as much as 5 km, revealing horseshoe crabs, starfish, red crabs and shells across the wet sand. This is the single reason to come, and it is worth timing precisely. Return to the shoreline well before the tide turns and comes back in. Spend the evening on the casuarina-lined beachfront. Overnight stay in Chandipur.

Day 2: Balaramgadi, Budhabalanga Confluence and a Second Tide

After breakfast, drive the short distance to Balaramgadi, the fishing harbour where the Budhabalanga river meets the sea, to watch the morning catch come in and, tide permitting, take a short fishermen’s boat out toward the river mouth. The confluence itself is a quiet, scenic spot popular with local picnickers. Return to Chandipur for the day’s low tide and a second, unhurried walk on the seabed — the phenomenon rewards a repeat visit, since light and marine life differ morning to evening. An optional evening can be spent watching the sunset over the flats, the beach’s most photographed hour. Overnight stay in Chandipur.

Day 3: Chandipur – Remuna – Balasore Departure

After breakfast, check out and, if time allows, stop at the Khirachora Gopinath Temple at Remuna on the road back, a well-known Vaishnav shrine roughly midway to Balasore. Transfer to Balasore, around 16 km and half an hour by road, in time for your onward train. Overnight journey onward.
