Day 1: Bangalore – Agumbe

Depart Bangalore early morning by road, approximately 350 to 380 km and 7 to 8 hours via Tumkur, Shimoga and Thirthahalli, the final stretch climbing the Agumbe Ghat through a series of sharp hairpin bends. Check in at your homestay or resort by evening. After settling in, walk the short 1 km trail to Agumbe Sunset Point for the region’s signature view over the Western Ghats. Overnight stay in Agumbe.

Day 2: Barkana Falls – Agumbe Rainforest Research Station

After breakfast, trek to Barkana Falls, about 7 to 10 km away, India’s tenth-highest waterfall at roughly 850 feet, formed by the Seetha River and set deep in the rainforest, with a local guide for the final forest stretch. In the afternoon, visit the Agumbe Rainforest Research Station, known for its long-running King Cobra research, subject to advance booking. Alternatively, spend the afternoon at Kudlu Theertha Falls, which forms a natural pool suitable for a swim. Evening at Sunset Point again, or at leisure. Overnight stay in Agumbe.

Day 3: Sringeri Day Trip

After breakfast, drive to Sringeri, about 30 km away, to visit the Sharada Peetham, one of the four cardinal mathas established by Adi Shankaracharya and a major pilgrimage centre on the banks of the Tunga river. Return to Agumbe by afternoon, with the rest of the day free for a shorter walk to Onake Abbi Falls or Jogi Gundi Falls, both close to the village, or simply resting at the homestay. Overnight stay in Agumbe.

Day 4: Agumbe – Bangalore Departure

After a relaxed breakfast, spend the morning at leisure, walking through the village’s old tiled houses associated with the television serial Malgudi Days, or a final visit to Sunset Point in daylight for photography. Check out and depart on the return drive to Bangalore, arriving late evening.
