Day 01: NJP Railway Station / IXB Airport – Phuentsholing

Upon arrival at NJP Railway Station or IXB Airport, you will be transferred to Phuentsholing, a bustling border town in Southern Bhutan and a thriving commercial center. Upon reaching Phuentsholing, you will be greeted by your Bhutanese guide. Take some time to capture photographs of the ornate gate that welcomes you to Bhutan. Check-in at the hotel. The evening is free for leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel in Phuentsholing.

Day 02: Phuentsholing – Thimphu

After breakfast, complete the immigration formalities and get transferred to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. En route, stop at Kharbandi Goemba, a monastery founded by the Royal Grandmother, Ashi Phuntsho Choden, in 1967. The monastery offers fascinating views of Phuentsholing town and the surrounding plains. Continue the drive to Thimphu, witnessing how the plains transition into foothills and then into the majestic Himalayan slopes. Check-in at the hotel upon arrival. The evening is free for leisure. Day 03: Thimphu Sightseeing

After breakfast, embark on a sightseeing tour of Thimphu. Visit Kuensel Phodrang, home to the gigantic Buddha Dordenma Statue, offering magnificent views of Thimphu Town. Explore the National Memorial Chorten, a stupa built in 1974 to honor the third King, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, often surrounded by people offering prayers. Visit the Folk Heritage Museum, which provides insight into Bhutanese lifestyle and rural household artifacts. Explore Changangkha Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Thimphu, and the Motithang Takin Reserve, a wildlife center for Takin, the national animal of Bhutan. In the evening, visit Tashichho Dzong, the Fortress of the Glorious Religion, housing some ministries, His Majesty’s secretariat, and the central monk body. Overnight stay at the hotel in Thimphu.

Day 04: Thimphu – Punakha / Wangdue Sightseeing

After breakfast, you will be driven to Punakha. Stop at Dochula Pass, situated at an altitude of 3,100 mts, featuring 108 Druk Wangyal Stupas. Continue the drive to Punakha / Wangdue. Upon arrival, visit Chimi Lhakhang, the Temple of Fertility, which requires a short hike of about 30-45 minutes. Later, visit Punakha Dzong, located at the confluence of Mo Chhu and Po Chhu Rivers. Check-in at the hotel in the evening. The rest of the evening is free for leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel in Punakha / Wangdue.

Day 05: Excursion to Gangtey (Phobjikha) OR Punakha / Wangdue Sightseeing

After breakfast, head to Gangtey, a beautiful glacial valley that is the winter home of the Black Necked Crane. Visit Gangtey Goemba, a monastery of the Nyingmapa school of Buddhism, and the Black Necked Crane Information Centre, which offers crane watching equipment and reference books. Return to the hotel in the evening. Overnight stay at Punakha / Wangdue.

Alternatively, you can hike to Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten, which offers breathtaking views of the Punakha Valley. Visit Punakha Suspension Bridge and Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Nunnery. The rest of the day is free for leisure. Overnight stay at Punakha / Wangdue.

Day 06: Punakha / Wangdue – Paro Sightseeing

After breakfast, drive to Paro. En route, stop at the Royal Botanical Garden at Lamperi, Bhutan’s first botanical park. Continue the drive to Paro, stopping at the Immigration Check Point in Hongtsho Village to return the permit. Visit Tamchog Lhakhang, built in the 13th century by Thangthong Gyalpo, known as the Iron bridge builder. Upon arrival in Paro, visit Ta Dzong, an ancient watchtower overlooking Paro Valley, now converted into a national museum. Explore Paro Rimpung Dzong, known as the Fortress of the Heap of Jewels, built during the time of Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1646. Walk down to Nemi Zam Bridge, a traditional covered cantilever bridge connecting Paro town to the Dzong. Check-in at the hotel. The evening is free for leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel in Paro.

Day 07: Paro Sightseeing

After breakfast, visit Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), a revered site located at an altitude of 3,100 meters in the Upper Paro Valley. According to legend, Guru Rinpoche arrived here on the back of a tigress and meditated at the monastery. The hike to the monastery takes about 5-6 hours and is steep with stiff stairs, so it is not recommended for small children and elderly people. On the way back, visit Kyichu Lakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred temples of Bhutan. Overnight stay at the hotel in Paro.

Day 08: Paro – Phuentsholing

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive to Phuentsholing. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel. The evening is free for leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel in Phuentsholing.

Day 09: Phuentsholing – NJP Railway Station/IXB Airport

After breakfast, check out from the hotel. You will be transferred to NJP Railway Station or IXB Airport for your onward journey. Tashi Delek!
