Upon arrival at NJP Railway Station or IXB Airport, you will be transferred to Phuentsholing, a bustling border town in Southern Bhutan and a thriving commercial center. Upon reaching Phuentsholing, you will be greeted by your Bhutanese guide. Take some time to capture photographs of the ornate gate that welcomes you to Bhutan. Check-in at the hotel. After breakfast, complete the immigration formalities and get transferred to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. En route, stop at Kharbandi Goemba, a monastery founded by the Royal Grandmother, Ashi Phuntsho Choden, in 1967. The monastery offers fascinating views of Phuentsholing town and the surrounding plains. Visit Tamchog Lhakhang, built in the 13th century by Thangthong Gyalpo, known as the Iron bridge builder. Upon arrival in Paro, visit Ta Dzong, an ancient watchtower overlooking Paro Valley, now converted into a national museum. Explore Paro Rimpung Dzong, known as the Fortress of the Heap of Jewels, built during the time of Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1646. After breakfast, visit Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), a revered site located at an altitude of 3,100 meters in the Upper Paro Valley. According to legend, Guru Rinpoche arrived here on the back of a tigress and meditated at the monastery. The hike to the monastery takes about 5-6 hours and is steep with stiff stairs, so it is not recommended for small children and elderly people. On the way back, visit Kyichu Lakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred temples of Bhutan. Overnight stay at the hotel in Paro.
