Day 1: Paro Airport to Thimphu

Upon arrival at Paro Airport and completion of immigration formalities, you will be warmly greeted by your Bhutanese guide. You will then embark on a scenic drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan, which is approximately 65 kilometers away and takes about 2 hours. Along the way, you will stop at Chuzom, the confluence of the Thimphu (Wang Chhu) and Paro (Pa Chhu) rivers, where you can admire three stupas built in Bhutanese, Tibetan, and Nepalese styles. Upon reaching Thimphu, check into your hotel. The evening is free for you to relax and explore the city at your leisure. Overnight at the hotel in Thimphu.

Day 2: Thimphu Sightseeing

After a hearty breakfast, set off on a full-day tour of Thimphu. Begin your exploration at Kuensel Phodrang, where the gigantic Buddha Dordenma Statue offers breathtaking views of Thimphu town. Next, visit the National Memorial Chorten, a stupa built in 1974 to honor the third King, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, which is circumambulated by people offering prayers. Continue to the Folk Heritage Museum, a traditional house that provides insight into the Bhutanese lifestyle and rural artifacts. Then, visit Changangkha Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Thimphu, and the Motithang Takin Reserve, a wildlife reserve center for the Takin, Bhutan’s national animal. In the evening, explore Tashichho Dzong, the Fortress of the Glorious Religion, which houses several ministries, His Majesty’s secretariat, and the central monk body. Day 3: Thimphu to Punakha/Wangdue Sightseeing

After breakfast, drive to Punakha, located about 77 kilometers from Thimphu, which takes approximately 2 hours. En route, stop at Dochula Pass, situated at an altitude of 3,100 meters. The pass is famous for its 108 Druk Wangyal Stupas and offers stunning panoramic views. Continue your journey to Punakha/Wangdue. Upon arrival, visit Chimi Lhakhang, the Temple of Fertility, which involves a short hike of around 30-45 minutes. Then, explore Punakha Dzong, a majestic fortress located at the confluence of the Mo Chhu and Po Chhu rivers. Check into your hotel in Punakha/Wangdue. The evening is free for leisure activities. Overnight at the hotel in Punakha/Wangdue.

Day 4: Punakha/Wangdue to Paro Sightseeing

After breakfast, drive to Paro, covering a distance of 140 kilometers in about 4 hours. En route, stop at the Royal Botanical Garden at Lamperi, Bhutan’s first botanical park. Continue your drive to Paro, with another stop at the Immigration CheckPoint in Hong Tho Village to return your permit. Further along, stop at Tamchog Lhakhang, built in the 13th century by Thangthong Gyalpo, also known as the Iron Bridge Builder. Upon arrival in Paro, visit Ta Dzong, an ancient watchtower overlooking the Paro Valley, now converted into the National Museum. Then, explore Paro Rinpung Dzong, the Fortress of the Heap of Jewels, built in 1646. Walk down to Nemi Zam Bridge, a traditional covered cantilever bridge connecting Paro town to the Dzong. Day 5: Paro Sightseeing

After breakfast, set off to visit Taktsang Monastery, also known as Tiger’s Nest, perched at an altitude of 3,100 meters in the Upper Paro Valley. According to legend, Guru Rinpoche arrived here on the back of a tigress and meditated at this monastery. The hike to the monastery takes about 5-6 hours and involves steep and challenging terrain, making it unsuitable for small children and the elderly. On your way back, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred temples in Bhutan. Return to your hotel for the night. Overnight at the hotel in Paro.

Day 6: Departure from Paro Airport

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Paro Airport for your return journey. Tashi Delek! Safe travels and farewell!
