Day 1: Arrival in Dibrugarh – Transfer to Namphake

Upon arrival at Dibrugarh Airport, meet your car and guide for a short briefing. The journey to Namphake village will take approximately 2 hours. Depending on the time of arrival, explore the unique Tai community village nestled within an Assamese setting. This village, home to descendants who migrated from Burma, offers a fascinating glimpse into a different culture. Visit local houses, enjoy tea with the villagers, learn about their customs, and visit the village temple. Enjoy a traditional local dinner. Overnight stay at Namphake.

Day 2: Namphake to Mon

Consider an early morning walk or relax by the scenic riverbank before breakfast. With packed lunch in hand, begin the drive to Mon, the homeland of the Konyak Nagas, known as the ‘Land of Angh.’ En route, visit a tea garden, explore a local bazaar, and stop by several tribal villages. This provides an introduction to the communities you will encounter in the coming days. The day will be filled with cultural activities and interactions. Enjoy a local dinner. Overnight stay at Mon.

Day 3: Exploring Mon

After breakfast, drive to Tang village to visit the traditional morung (youth dormitory) and the Angh’s house, while taking a walk around the village. Continue driving towards Longwa village, where you’ll witness stunning views of fields and mountains. In Longwa, meet the local blacksmith, visit houses adorned with intricate wood carvings, and explore the Angh’s house, which straddles the boundary between Burma and Nagaland. Discover the village’s cultural heritage, including old men with facial tattoos, and learn about the significance behind these markings. Enjoy a traditional dinner. Overnight stay at Longwa.

Day 4: Longwa to Chenmoho

Today’s drive to Chenmoho village involves navigating a rough road, with the duration dependent on road conditions. Upon arrival, enjoy a local lunch or prepare your meal at the homestay. In the afternoon, explore the village, meeting more tattooed elders—a great opportunity for photography enthusiasts. Interact with locals and the Angh, gaining insight into a lifestyle that remains largely untouched by modernity. Dinner will be a local feast. Overnight stay at Chenmoho.

Day 5: Chenmoho to Hongphoi – Return to Mon

With a packed lunch, set out on an hour’s drive to Hongphoi village, where you’ll meet the only surviving tattooed Angh. At the Angh’s court, engage with the village elders and capture moments through photography. Later, visit Wanglah village, notable for being accessible only by foot since the motorable road ends here, and it survives without electricity. Explore the village on foot before returning to Mon for the night. Overnight stay at Mon.

Day 6: Mon to Dibrugarh

After breakfast, begin the drive back to Dibrugarh, Assam. Depending on your arrival time, visit the mighty Brahmaputra River for a serene end to the day. Overnight stay at Dibrugarh.

Day 7: Departure from Dibrugarh

Post breakfast, drive to the airport to catch your flight for your onward journey, carrying with you the memories of this cultural and natural adventure.
