Day 1: Kannur – Transfer to Kavvayi & Backwater Introduction

Meet our representative at Kannur International Airport or in Kannur town and transfer north to the Kavvayi region around Payyanur, approximately 1 to 1.5 hours by road. This is an easy coastal drive, no hills. Kavvayi is the largest backwater in North Kerala and one of the least-visited in the whole state, this is genuinely offbeat territory, not a softened tourist version of it. Check in and spend the afternoon on the water’s edge or a short introductory canoe among the islands. Overnight near Kavvayi.

Day 2: Kavvayi – Island Backwaters, Valiyaparamba & Coastal Life

A full day across the Kavvayi backwater system and the Valiyaparamba stretch, a long, narrow barrier island separating the backwaters from the Arabian Sea. Small-boat cruise through the islands, mangrove channels and fishing hamlets, this is working North Malabar life, coir, fishing and toddy-tapping, not a curated experience.
