From there, drive to Viswema, the starting point of the trek to Dzukou Valley, situated at an altitude of 2,450 meters above sea level. The trek is a blend of 35% challenging and 65% moderate to easy sections, taking approximately 3 to 4 hours. As you ascend, experience the changing vegetation, hear the songs of birds, and encounter aromatic plants, orchids, and unique bamboo species along the way. Pause for lunch amidst nature before resuming the trek to Dzukou Valley. This valley, with its rolling hills blanketed by stout bamboo and vibrant flowers, offers a breathtaking view and a tranquil atmosphere that words cannot fully capture. The tour began with a smooth pickup from my hotel in Kohima. The car ride to Viswema was comfortable, and the guide provided insightful commentary about the local culture and the landscapes we were traversing. Upon reaching Viswema, we were briefed about the trek ahead, which I appreciated for setting the right expectations.
The trek itself was a beautiful blend of challenge and enjoyment. The trail was well-marked, with about 35% being quite challenging, while the rest was manageable.
