Dive into the flavors, stories, and streetscapes of Kolkata on this 2N/3D Kolkata Food Tour, a curated journey through heritage cafés, bustling bazaars, and legendary sweet shops. From College Street adda to Park Street classics and North Kolkata lanes, experience the city’s culinary soul. This 2N/3D Kolkata Food Tour blends traditional Bengali feasts, Mughlai delicacies, Chinese breakfasts, and iconic street food.
Arrive at Kolkata airport or Howrah or Sealdah railway station and meet our tour representative. Check in at a centrally located hotel and have lunch, a classic Bengali thali with dal, fried vegetables, fish and chutney. In the afternoon, head to College Street, the old book district, for tea or coffee and conversation at the Indian Coffee House, where Kolkata’s tradition of adda, long unhurried talk, is still alive. Walk through the book stalls, then stop for a plate of ghugni and a tea at a street stall. In the evening, move to Park Street for a drink of tea or baked goods at Flurys and a dinner of Anglo-Indian and Continental dishes at an old-school restaurant. Overnight stay in Kolkata.
Start early with a Bengali breakfast of luchi and alur dom or kochuri with sabzi, followed by a short walk through the lanes of North Kolkata, past old mansions and sweet shops. Visit the Tiretti Bazaar area for the morning Chinese breakfast market, if it is running on your date, with dumplings and soups from the Chinese community’s old quarter.
For lunch, drive to the Chitpur and New Market area for Mughlai cooking, with kebabs, rolls and biryani with its signature potato, such as at Aminia or Royal Indian Hotel. After a rest, take a guided street food walk for phuchka, jhalmuri, kathi rolls and egg rolls, ending with bhar chai in a clay cup. Dinner is a full Bengali meal, with fish, mutton curry, vegetable dishes and payesh or mishti doi to finish. Overnight stay in Kolkata.
After breakfast, visit an old Bengali sweet shop such as K.C. Das or Balaram Mullick for rosogolla, sandesh and mishti doi, with the story behind each. In winter, ask for sweets made with nolen gur, date palm jaggery, when in season. Buy a box to carry home. Check out and transfer to the airport or railway station for your onward journey.
