Day 01: Arrival in Malda and Orchard Visit

Arrive at Malda Town railway station and meet our tour representative; check in at your hotel and rest through the hottest part of the day. From about 4:00 pm drive to a family run orchard near town, walk the rows with the grower, learn how the main mango varieties differ in shape, fibre and sweetness, and taste fruit picked that day with in season varieties compared side by side. Return to the hotel for dinner. Overnight stay in Malda.

Day 02: Harvest Morning in Malda and Gour Ruins

Start at about 6:00 am at an orchard during harvest, watch fruit being plucked, graded and crated before the heat builds, then return for breakfast. After breakfast drive roughly 15 km to Gour for a short early visit to Dakhil Darwaza, Firoz Minar and Baro Sona Masjid, the evocative ruins of the old capital of Bengal’s sultans, and be back at the hotel by late morning for lunch and a long rest. At about 4:00 pm drive north to Pandua, roughly 20 km beyond town, to see Adina Mosque in the softer afternoon light, and in the evening visit Malda’s wholesale mango market where trucks are loaded and crates are graded and sorted for dispatch across India. Overnight stay in Malda.

Day 03: Mango Kitchen and Departure from Malda

After breakfast spend the morning with a local family or caterer preparing and sampling mango dishes which may include aamshotto (sun dried mango leather), aam pora sharbat, chutney or a mango dessert, with the chance to buy fruit and packed products to carry home. Check out and transfer to Malda Town railway station for your onward journey.
