Day 1: Arrival in Kota – Transfer to Jhalawar – Fair Grounds & Cattle Market

Arrive in Kota, the nearest major railway junction, and meet our tour representative. Transfer to Jhalrapatan, about 85 km and roughly 2 hours away, in the Jhalawar district. Check in at your hotel, then spend the afternoon at the fairgrounds themselves, a genuine working cattle market where traders bring cows, horses, buffaloes, camels and bullocks from across the region and neighbouring Madhya Pradesh, alongside stalls selling handicrafts and local food. In the evening, join the crowds for the Shobha Yatra, a ceremonial procession from Dwarkadhish Temple down to the riverbanks, followed by the Mahaarti and group Deepdan, lamps set afloat on the Chandrabhaga River. Overnight stay in Jhalawar.

Day 2: Kartik Purnima Holy Dip & Cultural Programme

A pre-dawn start to join pilgrims at the ghats for the holy dip in the Chandrabhaga River on Kartik Purnima, the full moon night that marks the fair’s spiritual peak, when many believe bathing here washes away the year’s sins. Later in the morning, visit Jhalrapatan’s own Sun Temple, the 11th-century Padmanabha Temple with its 97-foot shikhara, a short walk from the fairgrounds. In the afternoon, take in the fair’s cultural competitions, turban tying, a moustache contest, matka race, tug of war and rangoli making, before an evening of folk performances and fireworks at the grounds. Overnight stay in Jhalawar.

Day 3: Jhalawar – Kota Departure

After breakfast, check out and transfer back to Kota, approximately 2 hours by road, for onward departure.
