Day 1: Arrival in Jodhpur – Transfer to Phalodi

Arrive in Jodhpur and meet our tour representative at the airport or railway station. Transfer to Phalodi, approximately 140 km and around 3 hours by road into the northern Thar Desert. Check in at your hotel, then spend the afternoon exploring Phalodi’s salt pans and its old town, once an important stop on the camel caravan trade routes, with a scattering of weathered havelis still standing. If timing allows, drive out to Khichan in the late afternoon for the demoiselle cranes’ dramatic mass departure, when the entire flock takes to the air together around mid-afternoon. Overnight stay in Phalodi.

Day 2: Khichan Demoiselle Crane Experience

An early start for the short 6 km drive to Khichan, arriving for the morning feeding at the village’s Chugga Ghar, where thousands of demoiselle cranes gather to be fed by local volunteers, a tradition running here for decades. Later in the morning, visit the nearby Talab, the village pond where cranes often rest through midday. Return to Phalodi to rest through the afternoon heat, with an optional second visit to Khichan in the late afternoon for another viewing of the birds. Overnight stay in Phalodi.

Day 3: Phalodi – Jodhpur Departure

An optional early final visit to Khichan for photographers wanting one more session with the cranes. After breakfast, check out and transfer back to Jodhpur, approximately 3 hours by road, for onward departure.
