Day 1: Arrival at Barbil – Transfer to Saranda

Arrive at Barbil railway station and meet our tour representative on the platform. Transfer into the Saranda range, one of the largest sal forests in Asia, climbing through the hills with the forest closing in on both sides. After checking in at your forest rest house or guest house, walk the forest path near the settlement and visit the nearest viewpoint. End the day watching the light go over the sal canopy. Overnight stay in Saranda.

Day 2: Saranda Forest Excursion

Start early, the best hour for birdlife and for the mist that sits in the valleys. After breakfast, drive the forest road through the Saranda interior, subject to access and permit conditions, stopping at the viewpoints and the stream crossings along the route. Visit Murga Mahadev, a shrine set beside a forest stream, and the waterfall nearby, subject to water flow. In the afternoon, continue to the Kiriburu and Meghataburu ridge viewpoints for the long view across the range into Odisha. Return to your stay by evening. Overnight stay in Saranda.

Day 3: Saranda – Barbil Departure

Start with an early morning walk on the forest trail near the rest house. Return for breakfast and check out. Drive down to Barbil, stopping at the Barbil town market if your train time allows, before your drop at Barbil railway station for departure.
