Day 1: Arrival in Mumbai / Pune – Transfer to Ratnagiri

Arrive in Mumbai or Pune and meet our tour representative at the airport, railway station or at Ratnagiri station if you are travelling by the Konkan Railway. Transfer to Ratnagiri, a district headquarters on the Konkan coast known for its Alphonso mango belt, its beaches and its association with the last king of Burma. After checking in at your hotel, visit the Thibaw Palace, built in 1910 to house the exiled Burmese king Thibaw Min, and the Lokmanya Tilak Birthplace Museum in the old town. End the day at Bhatye Beach for sunset. Overnight stay in Ratnagiri.

Day 2: Ratnadurg, Pawas and the Southern Side

After breakfast, visit Ratnadurg Fort on the headland, built out over three sides of a promontory with the Bhagwati Temple inside it and open sea below. Continue south to Pawas for the Swami Swarupanand Ashram, then to Purnagad Fort at the mouth of the Muchkundi river. In the afternoon, visit Gaonkhadi or Ambolgad Beach, both quiet and largely undeveloped. Return to Ratnagiri in the evening. Overnight stay in Ratnagiri.

Day 3: Ganpatipule and the Northern Coast

After breakfast, drive north to Ganpatipule, around 25 km away, for the Swayambhu Ganpati Temple set directly on the shore and the long beach beside it. Visit the Prachin Konkan Museum, an open-air recreation of traditional Konkan village life. Continue to Malgund, the birthplace of the Marathi poet Keshavsut, and take the coast road past Aare Ware Beach, where the road runs high between two headlands. In the afternoon, visit Jaigad Fort and the Karhateshwar Temple on the cliff nearby. Return to Ratnagiri, or stay the night at Ganpatipule if you prefer the beach over the town. Overnight stay in Ratnagiri.

Day 4: Ratnagiri – Mumbai / Pune Departure

After breakfast, check out from the hotel. Visit a working Alphonso orchard if you are travelling in season, or stop at the Ratnagiri Marine Museum, depending on your departure time. Transfer back to Mumbai or Pune for your onward journey.
