Day 1: Arrival in Mumbai / Surat – Transfer to Saputara

Arrive in Mumbai or Surat and meet our tour representative at the airport or railway station. Transfer to Saputara in the Dang district of Gujarat, the state’s only hill station, set on a plateau in the Sahyadris close to the Maharashtra border. Travellers coming by train usually reach via Nashik or Waghai. After checking in at your hotel, take the Saputara Lake boat ride and walk the lakeside promenade. Continue to Sunset Point, reached on foot or by the ropeway, for the drop into the Dang valley. Overnight stay in Saputara.

Day 2: Gira Falls, the Museum and the Plateau Circuit

After breakfast, drive to Gira Falls near Waghai, around 50 km away, where the Khapri river drops across a wide rock shelf. On the way, visit the Waghai Botanical Garden, one of the larger collections of Western Ghats plant species in the region. Return to Saputara for the afternoon. Visit the Saputara Tribal Museum, which documents Dangi crafts, instruments and household objects, and the Artist Village where local Warli-style painters work. In the evening, take the Table Point or Governor’s Hill viewpoint for the valley at last light. Overnight stay in Saputara.

Day 3: Saputara – Mumbai / Surat Departure

After breakfast, check out from the hotel. Visit the Nageshwar Mahadev Temple and the Rose Garden, or stop at the Purna Wildlife Sanctuary boundary near Mahal on the way down, depending on your departure time. Transfer back to Mumbai or Surat for your onward journey.
