Day 1: Kolkata to Sundarbans
Your adventure to the enchanting Sundarbans begins at 8 AM, departing from Kolkata (city hotels/airport). Enjoy a serene 3-hour drive through the Basanti-Canning Highway, offering a glimpse of Kolkata’s morning scenes and the peaceful countryside. You’ll arrive at the Godkhali jetty, the entry point of Sundarbans National Park, by 11 AM. After a short 1-minute walk, you’ll board your cruise, where you’ll be welcomed with freshly cut coconut water and refreshments.
Cross the river and disembark at Gosaba, where a 20-minute toto ride will take you to Hotel Sonar Bangla. Check in by 1 PM and enjoy a freshly prepared lunch at the restaurant. In the afternoon, unwind at your accommodation or partake in various activities available at the property.
As the evening approaches, embark on a mesmerizing sunset cruise along the riverbanks of the Sundarbans, where you may spot fishermen and women working their nets. After the cruise, return to the resort for a peaceful evening, accompanied by snacks at your leisure. Dinner will be served at the restaurant, and afterward, guests can enjoy a relaxing evening at the in-house bar, Crocodila, or retire for the night.
Day 2: Exploring Sundarbans & Departure
Start your morning by waking up to the serene surroundings of the world’s largest mangrove forest. Enjoy breakfast at the restaurant before embarking on a morning tour. You’ll visit Sajnekhali Watch Tower, Sudhyanyakhali Watch Tower via Pirkhali 1 and 2, and Sarrakhali Islands. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife such as wild boars, spotted deer, otters, kingfishers, darters, and estuarine crocodiles. If luck is on your side, you might even catch a glimpse of the elusive swamp tiger. Your guide will provide insights into the rich biodiversity and help you spot wildlife along the way.
By noon, you’ll return to the resort for lunch. Afterward, it’s time to bid farewell to the Sundarbans as you are transferred back to the jetty ghat and then to Godkhali. From there, you’ll continue your journey back to Kolkata with fond memories of your Sundarbans adventure.

Hotel Sonar Bangla exceeded my expectations. The accommodations were comfortable and clean, and the staff were incredibly welcoming. The meals were delicious and offered a taste of local flavors, making our stay enjoyable!
