Day 1: Arrival at Kochin/Ernakulam
Upon arrival at Kochin/Ernakulam, you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to your accommodation in Thattekad. Check-in to the accommodation and spend the evening at leisure, exploring the surroundings or simply relaxing. Enjoy the serene ambiance and prepare for an exciting birding adventure. Overnight stay at Thattekad.
Day 2: Thattekad Local Sightseeing and Birdwatching
After breakfast, embark on a full day of local sightseeing and bird watching. Begin your day at the Thattekad Bird Sanctuary, renowned for its rich avian diversity. As you walk through the forest trails, keep an eye out for a variety of bird species such as the Malabar Grey Hornbill, Sri Lanka Frogmouth, Indian Pitta, and White-bellied Treepie. The sanctuary is a paradise for birdwatchers, offering sightings of the Black Baza, Malabar Parakeet, and the Oriental Bay Owl.
Continue your exploration with visits to nearby attractions such as Nadukani, which offers stunning panoramic views and an opportunity to see the Black Eagle and Crested Serpent Eagle. Proceed to Bhoothathankettu, a scenic dam area where you might spot water birds like the Indian Cormorant and Lesser Whistling Duck. Explore Malayattoor, a famous Christian pilgrimage site, where you can also spot the Malabar Trogon and Brown-breasted Flycatcher.
If time permits, visit Kodanad, known for its elephant training centre, where you can enjoy birdwatching along the Periyar River, spotting species such as the River Tern and Grey-headed Fish Eagle. Return to your accommodation for an overnight stay at Thattekad.
Day 3: Transfer to Kochin/Ernakulam
After breakfast, check out from your accommodation and transfer back to Kochin/Ernakulam. En route, you may visit Kalady, the birthplace of Adi Shankaracharya, where you can spot the Brahminy Kite and White-rumped Shama. Continue to Wellington Island, Bolgatty Palace, and Mattancherry, where you can explore the vibrant culture and history while spotting birds like the House Sparrow and Common Myna. The tour concludes with happy memories as you are dropped off at the airport or railway station for your onward journey.
