Day 01: Arrival at Negombo

Welcome to Sri Lanka! Upon arrival at the airport, you will be greeted by a representative and transferred to your hotel in Negombo. Negombo, often overlooked, is a seaside gem known for its incredible seafood and colonial architecture left by Dutch and Portuguese settlers. In the afternoon, explore Negombo on a city tour, visiting the historic Dutch Fort, the vibrant fish market, St. Mary’s Church, and the serene Angurukaramulla Temple adorned with Buddhist art. Enjoy the stunning beaches and various water sports activities, and indulge in Negombo’s culinary scene, famous for its fresh seafood dishes. Overnight stay at a hotel in Negombo.

Day 02: Negombo to Kandy

After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Kandy with a visit to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage en route. This orphanage is a conservation and captive breeding institute for wild Asian elephants and hosts the largest herd of captive elephants in the world. Continue your journey to Kandy, a city protected by nature with water, rocks, and jungles. Kandy, the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings before falling to the British in 1815, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the golden-roofed Temple of the Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha, the Kandy Lake built by the last King Sri Wickramarajasinghe in 1806, and explore the arts, crafts, and culture of the city. Day 03: Kandy to Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast, proceed to Nuwara Eliya. On the way, visit the Ramboda Hanuman Temple, a significant site on the Ramayana Trail in Sri Lanka, featuring an 18-foot tall Hanuman statue. Continue to the Seetha Amman Kovil, the only Hindu temple dedicated to Princess Sita in Sri Lanka. Located near Ashoka Vatika, now known as Hakgala Botanical Gardens, this temple is another important site on the Ramayana Trail. Overnight stay at a hotel in Nuwara Eliya.

Day 04: Nuwara Eliya to Kataragama

After breakfast at the hotel, proceed to Kataragama, enjoying a scenic train ride from Nanuoya to Ella (subject to availability). Visit the Nine Arches Bridge, a beautiful landmark built using stone and bricks by locals during World War I. Explore Ella, a small mountain village linked to the Ramayana, where King Ravana is said to have hidden Sita. Visit the Ravana Ella Cave and the 1080 feet high waterfall, where Sita is believed to have bathed. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kataragama.

Day 05: Kataragama to Colombo

After breakfast at the hotel, visit the Kataragama Temple, a complex dedicated to the Buddhist guardian deity Kataragama deviyo and Hindu War God Murugan, venerated by Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, and the Vedda people. On the way to Colombo, visit Rumassala and the Panchamuga Anjaneya Temple in Kalubowila, the first Anjaneyar Temple in Sri Lanka, dedicated to Lord Hanuman in his Panchamuga (five-faced) form. Overnight stay at a hotel in Colombo.

Day 06: Departure
