Day 1: Kolkata to Sundarbans
Your journey to the enchanting Sundarbans begins at 8 AM, departing from Kolkata (city hotels/airport). Enjoy a scenic 3-hour drive along the Basanti-Canning highway, offering glimpses of daily life in Kolkata’s outskirts. By 11 AM, you’ll arrive at Godkhali jetty, the entry point to Sundarbans National Park, where you’ll board a boat. Enjoy refreshing coconut water as you take in the bustling activity at the jetty, which sees over 500 boats depart daily.
A short boat ride will bring you to Gosaba, where a 20-minute toto ride will transfer you to Hotel Sonar Bangla. Check-in by 1 PM, followed by a delicious hot lunch at the hotel restaurant. Spend the afternoon at your leisure, with activities available at the property.
In the evening, embark on a magical sunset cruise along the riverbanks of Sundarbans. Witness the fishermen’s catch of the day as you savor evening tea and snacks onboard (optional, chargeable). Return to the hotel for dinner. Post-dinner, guests can enjoy the ambiance of the in-house bar, Crocodila, or call it a night.
Day 2: Exploring the Sundarbans
Wake up to the serene beauty of the Sundarbans, the largest mangrove forest in the world. After breakfast at the restaurant, set off on a full-day safari to explore the Sundarbans’ core area. Visit Sajnekhali Watch Tower (WT), Sudhyanyakhali WT, and Dobanke Watch Tower via Pirkhali 1 & 2. At Dobanke, walk through the forest canopy and observe spotted deer at the rehabilitation center. Your cruise will take you through the Matla-Sea Face, offering panoramic views of the Bay of Bengal and the majestic 5-river junction.
During your packed lunch, keep an eye out for wildlife such as wild boar, spotted deer, otters, kingfishers, and the elusive swamp tiger. Your guide will share insights into the terrain and help you spot the rich biodiversity of the Sundarbans.
Return to the hotel in the evening and unwind. After a brief rest, enjoy a vibrant Jhumur dance performance—a local tribal tradition that showcases the cultural essence of the Sundarbans. Evening tea and snacks will be served during the event. Dinner will follow, and guests are welcome to visit Crocodila bar afterward or retire for the evening.
Day 3: Departure from Sundarbans

Hotel Sonar Bangla provided a comfortable stay. The staff was friendly, and the meals were delicious! After a day of adventures, it was great to return to such a welcoming environment.
